Colourpop Pressed Powder Blush in the shade, Dee-Lish review

If there’s one thing I haven’t fully expressed on my blog, it’s my love for all things Hilary Duff and Lizzie McGuire. I’ve hinted at it here and there but I’ve never fully shared it with y’all. Like the majority of 90’s babies, I grew up watching Lizzie McGuire, but the obsession didn’t end there. I’ve continued to love every song, movie, and fashion line she’s put out since. In fact, that same obsession (I use this term in the least creepy manner possible) led me to meet her on July 10, 2013 (picture here as proof).

Anyways, that is a quick overview of my love for Hilary Duff and serves as an explanation for why I’m doing a full, dedicated review on this blush. I haven’t bought some new Colourpop makeup in quite some time. It seemed for a while there they were just coming out with a new launch every second day and I couldn’t keep up. I personally really dislike when a makeup brand is constantly pushing out new products. It’s like the fast fashion of the beauty industry, ya feel? But, alas, when I heard Colourpop was releasing a Lizzie McGuire collab, all those negative feelings faded away and were replaced by pure, unadulterated excitement. However, I’m not even sure if I can call this a true Lizzie McGuire collab because miss McGuire herself, Hilary Duff, wasn’t even notified of this collection. The fact that Colourpop did not even try to get her input angers me. I swear I’m not a Colourpop hater- it just rubs me the wrong way. OKAY?

But, on the plus side, this blush is absolutely gorgeous. This is the Colourpop Pressed Powder Blush in the shade, Dee-Lish! ($12USD/$14.50CAD). If I’m being honest, I really didn’t like the look of this blush online, but I wanted to pick up at least one thing from the collection and after watching countless Youtube reviews and reading every blog post review out there, I figured I would probably get the most use out of this one. And I was right. The colour is described as a cool-toned bubble gum pink and I surprisingly have nothing like it in my blush collection. I’ve always really liked cool-toned pinks in bot my blush shades and lipstick shades but they seem to be hard to find. And this one has the most gorgeous shimmer in it. Some reviews that I read about this blush didn’t appreciate the flecks of glitter but I always appreciate a good shimmery blush. I find that it’s perfect for the days when I don’t want to wear a blush and a highlighter. A good two-in-one, y’know?

And let’s talk about the pigmentation of this blush! Colourpop did good with this one! The Pressed Powder Blushes from Colourpop are super soft and silky and are so dang pigmented. I dip my brush once into the pan and that’s enough product and colour for both cheeks. It’s shocking. Oh yeah and I guess the most important thing to mention about this blush is the adorable packaging AKA the main reason I bought it. In typical Colourpop style, it’s just made out of cardboard (boo) but it has the cutest graphics of Lizzie Mcguire and is so nostalgic of early 2000’s design. And it even has a little mirror inside which is a nice bonus! I feel like I’m seven years old again, in the best way possible of course.
