Ever since I stopped working at Shoppers Drug Mart, my makeup purchases have really dissipated. I don’t think it’s entirely correlated to the absence of my employment there but instead due to the fact that I really don’t spend a lot of time nor effort on my makeup anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy wearing makeup as well as the act of applying makeup but I just don’t have regular occasions to experiment with it anymore. And if I’m not experimenting with new makeup looks, it just doesn’t make as much sense to be spending those hard earned coins on makeup. Now, you might be wondering, after I went on this whole tangent, why I am writing a whole post on some of Glossier’s newest products if I supposedly haven’t been buying makeup. Well, I should have specified. I haven’t been buying wild and crazy makeup, but I sure have been continuing to add staple products into my makeup routine and that’s where these fall in.

Let’s talk about my beloved Glossier Cloud Paints first ($18USD/$22CAD). I have wrote many a blog post on these (here and here) and I’ve even tried out numerous dupes trying to find one that I like just as much (here and here) but I’ve never truly succeeded. Glossier Cloud Paint will always be number one in my heart. And so, with that being said, I’m sure it’s no surprise that I decided to add two more shades to my collection. When Glossier was having their lil’ Friends and Family sale a couple of months ago (yes, this post is far overdue), I picked it up in the shades Eve and Storm. I was a little wary to try such bold, dark colours as I am extremely fair and I’m constantly trying to avoid that whole Snow White high contrast makeup look. But, after searching up swatches on some of my favorite blogs (yes, I indeed still read blogs), I felt quite confident that these were the shades I needed in my collection. And boy, oh boy, was I right.

Storm is the most beautiful warm rose colour. It blends out effortlessly and it is quite possibly the best everyday blush colour. It gives you that perfect flush and it works well with any makeup look, for any season. It’s perfection. Eve, on the other hand, is a deep mulberry. It’s like a rich red wine colour. Although it’s certainly not your everyday blush colour as it’s quite a bit darker, it’s absolutely stunning on the cheeks. It might seem a little intimidating at first but it too blends out and creates a gorgeous flush. It’s the perfect autumnal blush. Just imagine this on your cheeks with a big blanket scarf and a Pumpkin Spice Latte while the leaves change colour around you. It’s a vibe. So yes, don’t let these darker colours scare especially if you’re pale like me. They’re surprisingly wearable! Just apply them very sparingly.

The other item I picked up mostly because I needed to reach the free shipping threshold but also because I knew I would be heading back into the office soon and I wanted a fun new lippie to spice things up. However, little did I know that the mask mandate would soon be back in Alberta (are we really surprised?) and nobody would be able to see my lips behind my mask (I’m not complaining, I’m no anti-masker). This is the Ultralip ($18USD/$20CAD) from Glossier. It’s described as the (cashmere) sweatpants of lipstick and that’s what really piqued my interest if I’m telling the truth. Who doesn’t want to be wearing cashmere sweatpants on their lips?? But I’m going to get right to the point and let you know that this is not the cashmere sweatpants of lipstick. It was, quite simply, a dissapointment. It is supposed to be a 3-in-1 product (y’all know I love those) with the moisture of a balm, the glossiness of a gloss and the buildable colour of a lip tint. Sounds pretty great, right?

I’m not sure if I just got the wrong colour but this is essentially just a glorified lip balm. I picked it up in the shade Lucite that is described as a soft peony pink. However, despite looking gorgeous both on the models and the swatches on the site, this gives absolutely zero colour to my lips. And although the Hyaluronic Acid does give it a buttery smooth feeling on my lips, it’s quite disappointing that there is hardly any colour nor shine. If you picked up the Glossier Ultralip in another shade, please let me know how it is! Maybe Lucite is just a dud. But until then, I will just be buying more of my beloved Cloud Paints because I know they will never let me down.
