    Burt's Bees makeup review

It’s been a while since I’ve done more of a “drugstore” makeup brand review, but I’m super excited to be talking about Burt’s Bees beauty today. I’ve actually been a fan of Burt’s Bees makeup ever since I tried their powder blush years ago (I’m shocked I don’t have a review of it on ze blog). It’s in the shade Toasted Cinnamon and it will forever be one of my favorite blushes. It gives you that warm bronzed glow on the cheeks and compliments any bronzer. It’s my quintessential summer blush. But in today’s post, we will be exploring some of Burt’s Bees’ other products from their makeup range and seeing if any of them compare in quality and efficacy to their powder blush!

Let’s talk about these Squeezy Tinted Lip Balms ($11.99CAD) first. These are an interesting product. They’re made with responsibly sourced beeswax and hydrating cocoa butter so they’re super moisturizing but also a thick texture. They’re almost a combination between Burt’s Bees OG lip balms and a lip gloss. They have the thick beeswax texture but the shine of a gloss. They look gorgeous once applied but the application is where I run into problems. Because they are so thick, they can be a challenge to spread across the lips and get an even application. But I do find once they warm up on your lips, they become easier to spread. My favourite thing about these tinted lip balms however are the scents! Mine are in the scents Watermelon Rush, Mandarin Granita, Berry Sorbet and Sweet Peach. Each and every one of them smell exactly like their names would suggest and I love it!

Now, let’s go over Burt’s Bees cream products. I tried out both their Colour Nurture Cream Eye Shadow ($14.99CAD) as well as the Colour Nurture Moisturizing Cream Blush ($14.99CAD). They come in little plastic jars with twist tops- perfect for travelling and storing in a makeup bag for quick on the go beauty! My Cream Eye Shadow is in the shade Caramel Buttercream and it’s a gorgeous creamy opal shade. It has plenty of shimmer and shine so it doubles as a face highlighter which is always nice! It’s blends easily on the eye and has almost a powder finish when it dries. The Moisturizing Cream Blush in the shade Strawberry Cream is equally as beautiful. I love swirling a blush brush directly into the jar to get the most even application on my cheeks. I do find this blush to be more on the waxy side so it can be rather tacky until it dries and sets on the skin. There is one more downside with these cream products as well. No matter how tightly you screw on the lid, I found the product to dry out so fast! I don’t think I even had these for longer than six months before I opened them one day to find out that the product had completely dried out, hardened and was unfortunately unusable.

But, to prevent myself from ending this review on a bad note, let’s talk about the Goodness Glows Face Primer ($14.99CAD). This primer is wonderful. It contains natural minerals and moisturizing avocado oil so it hydrates your skin while also prepping it for makeup. It’s not silicone-based like most primers so it doesn’t clog your pores and it feels incredibly lightweight and breathable on the skin. And best of all, it gives this amazing illuminating finish that you can still see even when you apply foundation over it. It’s quite the spectacular primer and has become an everyday essential in my makeup routine!

So, it’s pretty clear Burt’s Bees has some amazing products and some that unfortunately fall short, but isn’t that the case with almost any makeup line? Luckily, there superior products really do make up for the ones that aren’t so great and I hope this post helped you decipher which ones you should be adding to your makeup routine and which ones you can skip out on!
