It probably comes as no surprise that I’m lip balm obsessed. I was just talking to my friend the other day that the pandemic really changed what I wore on my lips. Wearing a mask everyday meant that I didn’t gravitate towards putting on a lipstick everyday. Instead, I just stuck to plain ol’ lip balm. However, I have to admit I really miss wearing some sort of colour on my lips, but that doesn’t mean I’m ready to start wearing lipstick daily again. Instead, I found the next best thing: tinted lip balm.
And while tinted lip balm is definitely not a new or innovative concept to the beauty world, these viral Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balms are sure a wonderful variation of it. And when Summer Fridays released their holiday Mini Lip Butter Balm Set ($25USD/$33CAD), you know I just had to have it (spoken like a true shopaholic)!
This set features four of Summer Fridays’ Lip Butter Balms but in the cutest 5 gram size (the full size is a hefty 15 gram for comparison). It includes four shades: Vanilla, Vanilla Beige, Brown Sugar and Poppy. Both the actual shades as well as scents are very subtle but they are the perfect lil’ thing for just throwing in your purse and reapplying throughout the day. Vanilla is a sheer nude shade with a hint of vanilla for the scent. Vanilla Beige also smells the same but it has a subtle nude tint. Brown Sugar has more of a brown tint with the yummiest brown sugar scent while Poppy is more of a coral and smells like sweet citrus! Usually in sets like these, you always have a standout shade that you gravitate towards more than the others but I have found I’ve been reaching for all four equally. That goes to show just how good these are! But, if I had to pick, Brown Sugar might just be the frontrunner right now.
But, these lip balms aren’t just for show. They work amazingly as well. And for someone who has the driest lips, that really says something. They contain shea and murumuru seed butters to soothe, relieve, and condition parched lips. However, don’t think that these butter balms are thick or heavy on the lips! The vegan waxes in the balms have such a smooth, silky texture that also isn’t greasy. They give the perfect amount of shine to the lips without being sticky. The texture is perfection. Can you tell I looooove these butter balms?!
