It’s an exciting month in Canada because Naturium has launched exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart, making its coveted line of affordable skincare and body care available across the country! For those who aren’t as familiar with brand, Naturium is focused on creating dermatologist-approved skincare at a really accessible price. It’s also cruelty-free and vegan with potent, yet gentle, levels of active ingredients, so you know they’re going to be effective at delivering the results they say they will!
I was sent a couple of their most beloved skincare products to try out, and I must say, I’m becoming a huge fan of this brand. Let’s talk about the Purple Ginseng Cleansing Balm ($20USD/$34CAD) first as this is likely to be the first step of your skincare routine. This is a thick balm that instantly melts and emulsifies on the skin. It helps to dissolve any dirt, oil, makeup, sunscreen, and other impurities. I’m a huge fan of double cleansing so I always use this balm first to remove my makeup and then I follow with a gel cleanser to ensure my skin is super duper clean. It’s formulated with purple ginseng, plant-based esters and a blend of linoleic-rich oils so it’s very gentle and nourishing on the skin.
After the Purple Ginseng Cleansing Balm, I follow with the BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% ($19USD/$31CAD) that is a very close competitor to everyone’s favorite liquid exfoliant but at a fraction of the price! This Naturium BHA Liquid Exfoliant contains 2% encapsulated salicylic acid as well as bioactive fruit acids to gently exfoliate the skin and in turn, reduce the appearance of pores, smooth uneven skin texture, and create a glowing, radiant complexion. As with any liquid exfoliator, start out slow with this guy. I put it on only at night until my skin got used to it and then eventually I increased application to two times a day. And, as always, make sure you follow up with applying spf over top!
After this BHA Liquid Exfoliant, I love to use the Naturium Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% ($17USD/$29CAD). I have really been loving niacinamide for my skin recently. I was using the Paula’s Choice Clinical Niacinamide 20% Treatment (are we noticing a theme here between Paula’s Choice and Naturium??) but at $73 for only 20ml, I’ve been trying to find something slightly more affordable to replace it and I think I’ve found it with this Naturium serum! Niacinamide helps to decrease the appearance of pores and stubborn bumps, while also targeting blemish-causing congestion for smooth, soft skin! And this Naturium Serum doesn’t just contain niacinamide, it also contains 2% zinc! The addition of zinc helps to reduce any dark spots, while also smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
And finally, we reach (one of the last) steps of my skincare routine- the Naturium Multi-Peptide Moisturizer ($20USD/$34CAD). Now THIS might just be my new holy grail skincare product. It’s formulated with a multi-peptide blend, encapsulated ethylated vitamin C, as well as panthenol to target the look of fine lines and wrinkles for a more youthful looking complexion (and now that I’m a year away from 30, I really need that!). It’s also the perfect level of moisture, absorbing quickly but also leaving the skin feel nourished and conditioned. I find that makeup applies really well over it since it’s not too thin and not too thick. It also helps to improve the appearance of texture, for smoother, softer skin. And I just love the pump tube! Perfect packaging for a moisturizer, in my opinion! Big, big fan.
