Well, I’m turning thirty in a week (!!!) and I figured there is no better thing to post about than an eye cream. But first, I have to admit something. For the first half of my twenties, I really didn’t use an eye cream. I’d use one here and there but it was never a consistent thing in my life despite everyone saying that one of the most important items in any skincare routine is the eye cream. Well, luckily, that all changed once I reached the later half of my twenties and realized that these people were in fact correct. And so now, I religiously use an eye cream every day and every night and my eyes have really been thanking me ever since.
I feel like this Clinique All About Eyes eye cream ($56.50CAD/$42USD) is one of those eye creams that has stayed popular for decades now. Back in the good ol’ days when I was working at Shoppers Drug Mart as a Beauty Expert (that’s what my name tag said at least), this is the eye cream I would always recommend to someone when they didn’t want to spend too much, but still wanted something that worked well and wouldn’t irritate their eyes. And now, here I am, ten years later, using it myself. We’ve really come full circle here. I guess that’s what aging is all about.
The Clinique All About Eyes eye cream comes in two different formulations: Rich and regular. The Rich formulation is thicker and contains hyaluronic acid. It’s extremely nourishing and helps hydrate the skin around the eyes, making it look brighter and more refreshed. In addition, because it contains caffeine and whey protein, it also helps to reduce the look of puffiness and and under eye circles. And although you will find it is a much thicker, richer formulation than the original All About Eyes eye cream which is more of a cream-gel texture, it still absorbs and melts easily into the skin, leaving no residue and allowing makeup to sit nicely overtop. It really is a classic for a reason.
