You know a cleanser is good when I have a whole post dedicated to a review on it. Actually, that could go both ways. I would also dedicate an entire post to ranting about a bad product. I thrive on the drama. But it’s those mediocre products that just don’t deserve a solo review. And lucky for you, this Lab.it Pore Rice Cleanser ($16.79CAD/$12.49USD) is anything but mediocre. It’s the star of the show tonight.

I usually wouldn’t have too, too much to say about a cleanser. I feel like cleansers are usually a more simple skincare product. They either cleanse your skin or they don’t. Sure, sometimes they contain some active ingredients like a salicylic acid or Vitamin C. Sometimes they’re exfoliating. Some remove your makeup better than others. But, at the end of the day, they either work or they don’t. Now, this Lab.it Pore Rice Cleanser definitely works but it’s also a very intriguing product.

Although at first glance, it may look like your traditional cleansing balm, it actually has this super bouncy, mochi-like texture. It’s almost sticky (like mochi would be) so it feels like it grabs on to everything in your pores and just sucks it out. Because of the formula clinging to the impurities in my pores, I find my skin texture is vastly improved and my pores look smaller and tighter immediately. I love an immediate effect from a product.

This cleanser is definitely geared towards more oily and combination skin types. I find any excess oil is removed while also maintaining the skin’s natural moisture balance. It’s super gentle on the skin and leaves my face feeling refreshed, smooth and radiant. And it’s not just the texture that reminds me of mochi, this cleanser actually contains rice peptides that helps to maintain the natural glow of the skin while also refining any bumpy skin texture. And the scent! It has the most delicious rice pudding-like scent. It’s heavenly. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that Lab.it is actually Dr.G’s sister brand so that’s how you know it’s the real deal.
