A Typical Taylor Work Outfit

Okay, okay. I know what y’all are thinking. Taylor in another mustard yellow outfit? Typical. But hold your horses This ain’t mustard yellow. It’s more of a true yellow. Or a pastel yellow if you will. But definitely not mustard yellow. So we’re diversifying, okay. I am broadening my horizons. Be proud of me, please.

So this (non-mustard) yellow look is a very typical Taylor work outfit. Ever since graduating university and entering the full-time working world, I’ve been trying to discover what my business casual aesthetic is. Dressing for work is (obviously) a lot different than dressing for school or casual errands but I still want to ensure there is a bit of authentic Taylor-style in every business outfit I wear. One way that I’m able to make that happen is by having fun with colour. Because my work outfits usually consist of a combination of dress pants, a blouse, and a blazer, I try to add a bit more uniqueness and flair by incorporating fun colours. Hence, I am wearing a full yellow outfit and I’m digging it.

But finding business clothes in fun colours is not always the easiest task. There are three main stores I shop at for work clothes: Zara, Aritzia and Simons. Zara has the most unique pieces but their fit is often off. Aritzia has super cute pieces but definitely not the most unique and also a lil’ pricey at times. But Simons. Simons is the real winner in my life right now. They have amazing silhouettes in great colour palettes and all for reasonable prices! They have captured my heart. Both of these items are from Simons. I believe the pants were $80 (CAD) and the top was $60 (CAD) which I feel is super reasonable for business clothes (because work clothes are 10x more expensive than casual clothes, that exploitation, ugh).

And to spice up my work outfits even more, I definitely love to accessorize. You can usually find me wearing a bold pair of statement earrings (something acrylic or tassel-y is my go-to lately) but today I am switching it up with some super pretty, dainty jewelry from Ania Haie. Ania Haie recently reached out to me to see if I wanted to style some of their jewelry and I jumped at the opportunity because they are exactly what I’ve been looking for lately. Although I do love a good statement piece, I’ve also been looking for some super simple, classic everyday jewelry. And that is what Ania Haie is. I picked out four pieces; first is the Orbit Beaded Necklace. It has tiny gold beads spaced out along the chain and hits at a choker/collarbone length. The beads glisten so pretty in the sunlight. The second necklace is the Twist Chain Circle Necklace. It has a super thin circle pendant suspended on the chain and hits right under my collarbone. The third necklace is the Ripple Drop Discs Necklace and is my favorite out of the three. It is a bit longer than the others and has four miniscule discs with a rippled pendant in the center. It is such a beautiful piece to either be worn alone or layered with the other necklaces. And that’s why I love Ania Haie. The jewelry is designed in a way so that all the pieces layer so beautifully together. You can mix and match to create an effortlessly stacked look!

Oh! And I almost forgot to mention these earrings. These earrings are my new favorite thing. They are the Ripple Thick Hoop Earrings and they are the perfect combination of dainty and bold. They are unique yet subtle. They are a substantial weight yet not too heavy on the ear lobes. They are perfection. And every piece from Ania Haie is either sterling silver or 14 karat gold plated so you don’t have to worry about your jewelry turning your skin green or rusting!
