Staying On the Safe Side

Any opportunity to wear a dress I gladly take, so when my boyfriend invited me to his Racing for a Cure Gala (he’s kind of a big deal), I happily accepted – and then stressed about what to wear for a very long time. But, luckily my friend, Vanessa, came to my rescue (she really is a knight in shining armour, a true superhero) and let me raid her closet. And when she pulled this dress and a white version out of her closet, it ‘twas love at first sight (me and the dress, I mean. But also me and Vanessa. Stop Taylor, you’re not funny).

So, anyways, I have been really into shift dresses lately. They’re just so simple and easy to dress up or down. You can easily wear this style of dress with super high heels, lots of jewelry, a fancy clutch and suddenly it’s a fancy evening dress or you can totally dress it down with cute ghillie flats and a crossbody purse. I opted for somewhere in the middle however. I’m always scared of looking too casual or too dressed up (like I’m trying too hard) at events like this so I stayed on the safe side and added just a couple of accessories to dress up the look a lil’.

A key way to dress up an outfit is with a statement necklace. I absolutely love statement necklaces and I used to wear them a lot more back in the day, but lately the majority of mine have been looking a little outdated. So when Happiness Boutique reached out to me and offered me a few pieces from their site, I was so excited! I saw this necklaceand instantly fell in love. It’s the classic statement style with oversized gems and three large medallions, but I also love the modern touch of the marble stones mixed in! Plus the pastel crystals are going to match everything in my closet!
