Paula's Choice Repairing Serum

My love for Paula’s Choice skincare has never wavered and this new collection has cemented it even further. A big confusion within the skincare community is what exactly defines sensitive skin. Some may think that sensitive skin is an extremity of redness and irritation when in reality, 70% of people actually experience sensitive skin. It’s far more common than you would think. And so, to combat sensitive skin, Paula’s Choice launched their new and improved CALM collection with key ingredients like Beta-Glucan, Hexapeptide-8, and Allantoin to sooth skin, strengthen the skin’s barrier and calm and ease redness. I was sent four products from the CALM line and can we just say that this is the prettiest packaging ever!! Y’all know I’m an absolute sucker for anything mint green (I say this as I’m currently typing this on a mint green keyboard on a mint green iMac with a mint green mouse pad and have a mint green scrunchie in my hair. It’s truly an obsession).

The first product is the Paula’s Choice Ultra-Gentle Cleanser ($19USD, 198ml). I am such a huge fan of Paula’s Choice cleansers. My absolute favorite cleanser of all time is the Oil Reducing Cleanser ($19USD, 237ml) (review here), so I was super excited to see how this new CALM Ultra-Gentle Cleanser would compare. It is designed to melt away impurities with a super gentle, softening lather that doesn’t disrupt the skin’s barrier. Soothing triglycerides and hydrating glycerin leave a silky-soft finish while prebiotic sugars support skin’s microbiome to improve it’s sensitivity over time. It lathers really nicely and helps my skin feel clean without stripping it of it’s natural oils, which is the #1 thing I look for in a good cleanser!

The second product in the lineup is the 1% BHA Sensitive Skin Exfoliant ($34USD, 100ml). This product is very similar to Paula’s Choice’s beloved Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant ($34, 118ml) (review here), but it’s a little more gentle and packed with skin-soothing ingredients that really help to target the underlying causes of sensitivity. Plus, it’s a gel texture instead of a liquid which I find to be super soothing and lightweight! The BHA helps to refine the look of enlarged pores and wrinkles while skin-healing allantoin soothes and eases sensitivity.

And then we have the Paula’s Choice Repairing Serum ($44USD, 30 ml). I feel like this is a rare serum in the world of skincare. It both combats sensitive skin while also helping to improve signs of aging. I feel like sometimes it’s impossible to find a product that can do both! It contains ceramides and beta-glucan with antioxidant-enriched plan extracts to repair the skin and keep it resilient and looking youthful. It’s even gentle enough for skin that is prone to rosacea! And finally, hyaluronic acid completes the formula by locking in hydration and plumping up any fine lines and wrinkles.

To complete the skincare routine, the last product is the Paula’s Choice Rescue & Repair Intensive Moisturizer ($33USD, 60ml). The CALM line includes both an intensive moisturizer for normal to dry skin as well as a weightless moisturizer for combination or normal skin depending on your skin type! This Intensive Moisturizer contains soothing emollients and antioxidants to provide immediate relief for dry and sensitive skin while also hydrating and reinforcing the skin’s barrier. A multifunctional peptide, Hexapeptide-8, visibly firms while glycogen targets the underlying causes of sensitivity, leaving a supple, radiant finish. It’s super thick and moisturizing so I will probably use this one in the dry winter months and switch over to the Weightless Moisturizer once my skin gets a little more on the oily side in the summer.
