A Glass Half Full Kind of Gal

Guys, it’s March and it’s still snowing here in Edmonton. I don’t know why I’m surprised every year that there’s still snow when March rolls around, but I am. The bright side of all this snow, however, is that it just gives me more time to wear all of my cute coats and jackets before spring hits. Look at me! Making lemonade out of lemons. I’m a glass half full kind of gal, what can I say.

I’ve spoken about Commense twice before on ze blog back in 2024 (here and here) and I’ve just found time and time again that they have the cutest, trendiest clothing pieces that are both high quality and relatively inexpensive. For a long time now, I’ve been feeling like there are just so few stores to shop at that meet all of those criteria. We have Aritzia, Zara and sometimes H&M. Maybe Old Navy too, but the quality can be questionable at times. So, it’s nice to have something like Commense to throw into the mix and gives some options of where to shop.

I’m wearing one of my favorite jackets today from Commense. I’m wearing the Minky Contrast Piping Fleece Jacket ($95USD) today and it’s safe to say I’m obsessed with this coat. It’s so soft and warm and oversized (I’m wearing a size small for reference). I can throw it on over anything and it automatically ups my chicness factor without looking overdone. It has the most gorgeous brown suede piping detail that just screams fall (I know, I know, we’re almost in spring) and some fun faux leather quilted buttons that look great unbuttoned or done up.

But, we’re not done with Commense yet. I’m also wearing a turtleneck ($45USD) from there that features a really pretty brown ombre colour-way. It’s also this ribbed wool blend, so in combination with the coat, it is certainly doing it’s job at keeping me toasty warm right now. I have began to notice that I am such a turtleneck girl the second the temperature drops below zero. There’s just something about a turtleneck that seems so much more elevated than a long-sleeve tee but is just as comfy as one. And you know I’m all about comfort these days.

The rest of my outfit is honestly really boring if I’m telling you the truth. So let’s run through it super quick. My jeans are the Citizens of Humanity faded black Daphne jeans. They’re an oldie but a goodie and I wear them constantly, much to my fiancé’s dismay (does anyone else’s partner hate every type of denim besides skinny jeans??). And then, to complete (I’m using this term lightly) my outfit, I’m wearing my Chestnut Ugg Mini boots and my Coach Pillow Tabby bag which doesn’t see the light of day much anymore. And voila! A simple, cozy outfit to hopefully welcome the end of winter.
