Well it’s July and I have not posted an outfit post on ze blog for 10 months. I often thought that if I wasn’t blogging, it meant I wasn’t doing well in life. I thought my life was the most put together when I was balancing my workload with school, my job and ze blog (not to mention a bumpin’ social life) perfectly so that I had time for everything. Well, if these past ten months have taught me anything, it’s that sentiment couldn’t be further from the truth. Taking a break from ze blog has been the best thing I’ve done in a long time. I’ve been able to do everything I’ve wanted in my life and more. And now, I’m coming back to ze blog more renewed than ever (and judging from the look of my legs in these photos, paler than ever too).
Edmonton has been getting a shitty summer so far. It’s almost mid-July and I don’t think we’ve had a single day where it’s been over 30°C. After the extreme heatwave we had last summer, I’m shocked. Edmonton has done a total 180 and to make matters worse, it’s been raining almost every day. Hence, my body is as pale as ever. We need to change that ASAP. Luckily, I went camping this past weekend and I was able to tan (well, burn) a little. But, I leave to Mexico (!!!) in 10 days and you best believe I’m going to do everything in my power there to come back with the best sun-kissed glow.
Pale legs and rainy weather aside, I’ve been slowly but surely revamping my outfits for the summer months. I always thought that my summer outfits were really lacking on ze blog. I don’t often wear anything more exciting than a t-shirt and a pair of shorts once the weather hits above 20°C but this is the year I wanted all of that to change. And so that brings in this cute little set from Aritzia.
This co-ed set is comprised of the Wilfred Effortless Linen 5″ Shorts as well the Wilfred Proposal Linen Shirt, both in the Warm Sienna Red colour. There is so much I love about this set. First, they composed of 66% lyocell and 34% linen. I’m sure it’s no surprised by now what a big fan I am of linen. It’s just so comfy and breathable. And the lyocell component helps the linen be a tad (just a tad) less wrinkly. Second, I’m obsessed with this colour! I think these might be the first red clothing items I’ve ever owned. I never considered myself to be a red type of gal, but this shade is just too pretty to pass up. It’s almost like a coral mixed with a red. Perfection, I tell ya. And last, I love that it’s a matching set. I can wear the items together and look so put together or I can wear them separately and add them seamlessly into other outfits. Perfectly effortless. That’s the vibe I go for in the summer. Now, please ignore my pale legs and stay tuned for my next blog posts! Because I’m determined to not let ten months pass by without an outfit post ever again.
