It’s been over TWO months since I posted an outfit post on ze blog. And coincidentally, I was wearing the exact same jacket (take a look here). Actually, it’s far from a coincidence. We’re still in the middle of a pandemic and I really haven’t been wearing anything exciting. Not to say this jacket isn’t exciting but you get my point. As much as I miss dressing up (which is a lot), it just feels pointless to put on a cute or fancy outfit when I know I’m not going anywhere. But rest assured, when I am back in the office, my outfits are truly going to be out of this world. Y’all better get ready for it.

So I recently took a little road trip back in February because I had been dying to see the snow covered mountains again and I took an entire week off of work for Reading Week. One thing that I have noticed since working full time as well as being in a Master’s program is that it’s really hard to not only take vacation time but also feel like you’re truly taking some relaxing time off. It’s hard to match up when you don’t have assignments or papers or studying or presentations due but also are able to take time off work. There’s a very small window of time where the two actually line up and you can take a few days off without feeling incredibly guilty. But, I was able to take a week off and go to Canmore for one of the days so I’m very grateful for that!

Now, I have to say that I have been to Lake Louise dozens and dozens of times over the years but I have never seen the lake as empty as it was during this time. These photos were taken on a Saturday so you would expect it to be crazy busy but that was simply just not the case. I guess with the borders closed, tourism is at an all time low (as it should be in a pandemic) so it was very nice to actually see the lake without having to dodge around hundreds of people. I also went ice skating on the lake which was so fun! My goal of becoming a pro figure skater hasn’t quite come to fruition yet, but we are working on it (slowly but surely).

So, because this is an outfit post, let’s actually talk about my outfit now. For starters I’m wearing some skinny jeans. I know all you Gen Z’s are saying skinny jeans aren’t in style anymore. And being a self-proclaimed fashion blogger, I feel slightly embarrassed to admit that I just can’t let go of my skinny jeans. But hear me out, non skinny jeans are just not practical to me. What kind of pants do I wear when I’m out walking with Uggs on? Now I know Uggs aren’t the epitome of style either but let’s just ignore that. I can’t wear straight leg or dad or mom or boyfriend or flare jeans with Uggs. They wouldn’t tuck in. Am I supposed to wear them outside of the boot? Then they would get snowy and wet. That wouldn’t work, OKAY. And I can’t wear leggings with Uggs. Those aren’t warm enough for these -40 degree Winters. My only option is skinny jeans. So just let me have them. I don’t care if I’m not trendy enough. I just don’t care (maybe I do a little).

Anyways, with my skinny jeans, I’m wearing this new turtleneck I recently got from Lululemon. I am in love with this top. It’s called the Retreat Yourself Pullover and it’s a loose, oversized cropped sweater with wide bell sleeves in a super cozy cotton/polyester ribbed fabric. You can’t really see the fit of it in these photos so I’d highly encourage you to check it out on the Lululemon website so you can fully appreciate how beautiful it is. Overtop, I am wearing my Silent Storm Green Super Puff from Aritzia that I talked about in my last blog post so please go check it out there for the full review! Spoiler alert: I absolutely love it. But I added a couple of things to this winter look to keep me extra warm including these amazing Super Puff mittens that are also from Aritzia! They are filled with 100% responsibly sourced goose down (700+ fill power if we’re getting technical) in a matte black water-repellent and wind-resistant fabric. Plus they have a super soft and cozy lining with a clip to keep them together so you won’t be ending up with a lost mitten anytime soon. They’re truly the perfect mittens.
