A few of you may know but I moved a couple of months ago (seven months to be exact) and one of my favorite pastimes have been exploring my new neighbourhood. I used to live on the southside of Edmonton and now I live on the South-Central (central-south?) side of Edmonton. A big difference, I know. But, as someone who’s mostly lived in the same house her entire life, it’s super exciting to have a whole new area to walk around! And so, I’ve been doing just that. Ever since the warmer weather hit, I’ve been leaving my house during my lunch break and going for nice long walks. It’s done wonders for relieving my stress (and relieving my paleness). They really just reset my brain. I wish I had of been going on lunch walks since the start of the pandemic. I can’t believe I missed out on a whole year of walks. I’m really going to regret that once I’m back in the office and don’t have the luxury of leaving for long walks.
This is one of my typical ‘walking’ outfits on days when it’s a little cooler (we’re talking 17-21°C, very specific, I know). It’s cute, comfy, and casual, everything I need in a walking outfit. What should we talk about first? Aah, I know. What’s the most important thing when you’re walking? The shoes. Yes, of course. My brother got me these Converse High Tops for my 26th birthday and they couldn’t be more Taylor (afterall that’s why they’re called Chuck Taylor’s, right?). These are the Culture Prints Chuck 70 High Tops and they’re part of Converse’s culture-inspired prints collection with this pair being inspired from Indo-Iranian roots. From the moment I saw them, I just knew the mustard yellow and green paisley print deserved a place in my closet. They’re crafted from a premium canvas with enhanced cushioning so they’re super comfy. They also have a shiny, taller rubber sidewall so they’re a lil’ different from your ordinary Converse. When I first got these, I was a little unsure what to pair them with. I thought I might not be able to find enough outfits to complement them. But that worry is definitely behind me now because surprisingly, it seems like everything goes with them. It definitely helps that the majority of my closet is either green or mustard yellow.
Speaking of green, that’s what I decided to pair with my Converse for this look. For starters, I’m wearing a pale, pastel green t-shirt from Frank and Oak. I am obsessed with these Frank and Oak tees. They are called the Good Cotton Essential T-Shirts and the name pretty much sums up why I love them. They’re made of 100% organic cotton that is responsibly grown and harvested with sustainable methods. Good for the earth, good for me. The material is light and airy on the body without being too thin or see-through. And the fit is just right. They’re not too baggy, they’re not too fitted (I wear a size XS for reference). And they have the perfect crew neck neckline. You know there’s nothing I hate more than a scoop neck, a boat neck or a v-neck so let’s be very glad this tee has none of those. It truly is the essential tee. And they come in a lot of different colours at Frank and Oak so you can pick up all your faves! This one is in the shade Light Green. It is indeed light and green.
Okay, now it’s time to talk about these jeans. As soon as my friend, Mita, saw these jeans on me, she expressed her surprise at them not being skinny jeans. Is that all I really am now?? A millennial who wears skinny jeans?? Well, you Gen Z’s will be glad to know that I received a pair of these Levi Ribcage Straight Ankle jeans for my birthday from my bestie, Vanessa, with the note, and I quote, “Happy Birthday – Please stop wearing skinny jeans. People will know you’re 26…”. Well, that day has come. I have stopped wearing skinny jeans (momentarily). Are y’all happy now? Anyways, for the rest of my outfit, I’m just wearing a green Zara cardigan and my Coach Pillow Tabby Bag. I have been living in both of these things all summer and I don’t think that’s going to be changing anytime soon.
