Well guys, it’s official. I’m halfway done my MBA. Isn’t that crazy? I have one more year of classes and then I will officially be a Master of Business Administration. It’s been an incredibly busy year, but I have a little over a month break before my next semester starts and I’m so excited to have that little bit of free time to put some much needed TLC back into ze blog. My goal is to get back to posting three times a week- Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We will see if I’m actually able to hold myself to that. Fingers crossed.

The weather in Edmonton has been extremely temperamental to say the least. Albertan Mays have traditionally always been a gong show as far as temperature fluctuations, but this May has been especially bad. I’ve even had to wear my Aritzia Superpuff this month. That’s how chilly it’s been. And so, when shopping for some new summer outfits this year, I have really hesitated buying typical warm weather clothes. I just can’t fathom the thought of wearing shorts and tank tops right now. I just shivered as I wrote that.

And so, when I was shopping on Zara and I saw this incredibly warm chunky knit sweater, I knew this was the one for me and the fluctuating spring weather. This sweater is so reminiscent of my Ballet days. I remember being twelve and heading to dance class in my little pink wrap shrug. I thought I was the coolest and looked like a lil’ prima ballerina. I loved it so much that no matter how hot I got or how much sweat was quickly accumulating, I refused to take if off during the warmup in class. See- even from a young age, I was an advocate of fashion over comfort. Not much has changed since then.

I have been so obsessed with purple lately. I really think this shade of purple is going to be my new colour now that my love of mustard yellow and sage green are fading (emphasis on the fading, I’m not even close to being over them yet). This sweater features a wrap style tie with a chunky cable knit pattern in this gorgeous periwinkle lavender shade. It’s made of an acrylic, polyamide and polyester blend so it’s incredibly warm. If it hadn’t of been 13°C this day, I probably would have been sweating buckets. But alas, it was a chilly spring day and I was very grateful for the warmth (and cuteness) this sweater provided. However, as cute as this wrap sweater is, I think it’s important to note that, with wear, this seems like it would pill a lot and not hold up the greatest. With Zara the quality is not always fully there unfortunately (read to the end of the post for some other wrap sweaters that might be better quality, including options that aren’t fast fashion).

Underneath the sweater, I opted to wear a white t-shirt even thought this piece is styled on the Zara website with nothing underneath. That seemed a little risky for two reasons. First, what if it suddenly untied and second, what if I got too hot and needed to take it off? I’m a lil’ risk adverse at times so I had to stay on the safe side and wear a t-shirt underneath. For jeans, I’m wearing my beloved Olivia’s from Citizens of Humanity with the exposed button fly. I then added a pair of white sneakers (surprise there) and a neutral cream linen mask. From the very start of the pandemic, I’ve been wearing these linen masks from Aritzia and they’ve really saved my skin. I find I don’t get any breakouts from them, they’re easy to wash and they have so many cute colours that match all my outfits. Should I do a whole blog post dedicated to my mask collection?! Wow, times have really changed here on ze blog (and in the real world).

I introduced you to my new purse in my last outfit post and it’s safe to say I’m still obsessed with it. It’s currently sold out (check back here to see if it’s come back in stock) but I’ve linked it below in the smaller 18 size in purple (which is definitely next on my bucket list to pick up). I’m wearing it here with the long strap which I opt for when I’m going for a more casual look. I find it just elevates any of my outfits. It really is my dream purse.
