In true When I’m Older fashion, let’s take a moment to reflect on my age. I was sixteen when I started this blog. I’m going to be turning twenty-nine in a mere couple of months (the last year of my twenties- what a scary thought). And it’s safe to say that a lot has changed in the past thirteen years and one of those changes is my skincare routine. As I (begrudgingly) prepare to enter my thirties, I can no longer avoid that whole aging and wrinkles thing. My skin will develop lines (hopefully more smile lines than frown lines) and it will get dark spots and it will lose moisture faster than ever. And so, it’s more crucial than ever to adopt a more intensive anti-aging skincare routine. But, with stronger and more active ingredients, also comes an increase in price with those anti-aging products. However, what if I told you, you could transform your whole routine for less than $150? Listen up.
The Burt’s Bees Renewal Face Care Line was developed with dermatologists and features Bakuchiol which is essentially a naturally-derived and gentler alternative to retinol. But don’t be scared when you hear the word retinol. It’s gentle enough to use daily in the morning and evening without irritating the skin.
The first product in the routine is the Burt’s Bees Renewal Refining Cleanser ($14.99CAD). Not only is this cleanser infused with that Bakuchiol we talked about earlier. it also contains Vitamin E to gently rejuvenate the skin without stripping away any moisture. It also has a lovely creamy texture with natural exfoliators to gently smooth your skin to improve the texture, reduce any dullness and prep your skin for the rest of your skincare routine. After using this, my skin feels nice and clean, but also comfortable enough that I’m not running to put on a thick slab of moisturizer after.
After cleansing, enters the Burt’s Bees Renewal Dark Spot Corrector ($29.99CAD). Let me just start by saying that this is such a good price for a Vitamin C serum because you all know can get hella pricy. And this one contains both Vitamin C as well as Bakuchiol to boost the radiance in your skin. Any dark spots, age spots, discolourations and hyperpigmentations will eventually fade over time thanks to the Vitamin C and it’s richness in antioxidants. Oh and did I mentioned it’s made from 98.6% natural origin? Pretty good, right?
After you apply that dark spot corrector, it’s now time to move on to the moisturizers. For day, there is the Burt’s Bees Renewal Firming Day Lotion ($29.99CAD). This one contains SPF 30 which is going to help decrease any risk of damage from UV rays, including dark spots and premature wrinkles. However, if you do spend a good amount of time outdoors, I would still recommend layering an SPF 50 sunscreen underneath this lotion. And for nighttime, there is the Burt’s Bees Renewal Anti-Wrinkle Moisturizing Cream ($29.99CAD). This cream is the powerhouse of the whole Renewal line. With Vitamin E and Bakuchiol, it improves firmness, brightens the skin and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. It leaves the skin looking radiant, feeling hydrated, with an improved skin barrier locking in all moisture.
And finally the last step in any skincare routine: the Burt’s Bees Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream ($29.99CAD). Once again, this cream has both Bakuchiol and Vitamin E to help work on under-eye circles, crow’s feet, lines, and wrinkles. It’s also as wonderful eye cream to put on in the morning because it helps to target any puffiness and dark circles while keeping that area super nourished and hydrated. And voila! The end of my new skincare routine as I prepare to enter this new decade of my life. Wish me luck, y’all.
