Another sunscreen post?! In less than a month’s timespan?! You betcha! It is April after all. And while I have my sunscreen that I love and use all year round (AKA the Rovectin Skin Essentials Aqua Soothing UV Protector), I’m always on the hunt for a sunscreen that will be even better for those super hot months where everything just seems to slide off my face. And that’s where this By Wishtrend Pore Smoothing Bakuchiol Sun Stick ($24USD/$33CAD) enters. I know I said in my last sunscreen post, that the Dear, Klairs All-day Airy Mineral Sunscreen ($20USD/$27CAD) would be the one accompanying me to Europe, but I’m really starting to rethink that. Because this By Wishtrend Sun Stick might be even better and even more convenient. And here’s why.
First of all, the packaging is just so convenient. The Sun Stick is housed in this sleek purple and yellow tube (so cute!!) where you just pop off the lid, twist the base of the container to raise appropriate length of the stick, and swipe it on your face. No mess, no sunscreen all over your hands, just a quick and easy application! And because this is a solid gel and not a liquid sunscreen, you don’t have to worry about this taking up room in your liquids allotment when travelling! Hence why I think this is the sunscreen that will be coming with me to Europe this summer!
But, it’s not just the packaging that is perfection, it’s also the formulation. This Sun Stick works like a primer, smoothing out pores and skin texture to create an effortlessly flawless base for makeup application. I was a little wary of applying makeup over this sunscreen at first, thinking it might pill or not completely set down on my face, but it really did act as a primer and my makeup stayed on all day over top! It has a really nice semi-matte finish that is not greasy in the slightest. It dries down very nicely and stays both sweat and sebum proof throughout the day.
In addition to the oil control, this Sun Stick also has a number of skincare properties. It helps to improve both skin texture and enhance skin elasticity thanks to the niacinamide, peptides and caffeine in the formulation. And, the star ingredient, Bakuchiol which is known as the next-generation alternative retinol, helps to prevent skin aging caused by UV rays as well as limit any loss of moisture and soothe the skin. And, to wrap up this post, we better talk about the UV protection seeing as this is a sunscreen. It was certified by three different labs as SPF 50+ and PA++++ UV protection so you can really trust that this is going to limit any damage from UV rays!
