    Paula's Choice sunscreen review
    Paula's Choice Skincare

Just because summer is over and the cold weather has hit, it doesn’t mean it’s time to stop wearing sunscreen. I preach about sunscreen way too much on ze blog, but we really should be wearing sunscreen all year round. I know I’ve done quite a few sunscreen reviews on ze blog this year (this By Wishtrend one, this Klairs one & this Round Lab one just to name a few), but I’ve recently switched over from Korean sun care to Paula’s Choice sun care mainly because it’s much easier to find in Canada. And so, I figured I should tell you a little bit about the sunscreens that have been in my rotation lately!

I love Paula’s Choice. That should come as no surprise. And their sunscreens are definitely no exception to that. So, let’s talk about the Paula’s Choice Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid ($54CAD/$39USD) because – spoiler alert – that one is probably my favorite out of the three. For starters, it has an SPF of 50 so it’s going to defend against damaging UVA & UVB rays as well as fight any signs of premature aging. This fluid is ideal for more normal to oily and combination skin types because of it’s ability to mattify oil and shine on the skin. And the texture of this sunscreen is exemplary and probably my favorite thing about it. It’s super lightweight and oil-free so it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy under makeup. In addition, because of it’s multi-antioxidant blend, it’s going to protect against all environmental factors while also contributing to the anti-aging benefits that the sun protection already provides.

In a close second in my ranking of favorite sunscreens is the Paula’s Choice 5% Vitamin C Sheer Moisturizer ($45USD) This one also has an SPF of 50, but differs from the Daily Hydrating Fluid in many ways. It contains not one, not two, but three types of Vitamin C to brighten the skin, even out the tone and supercharge the SPF 50 for the most advanced sun protection. It has a similar lightweight (almost watery) texture as the Daily Hydrating Fluid, but it provides more of a glowy, radiant finish instead of that matte, oil absorbing formulation. I also find this one almost has the slightest tint to it so it helps immediately even out any redness or discolouration while treating it long term as well. And because of that minimal tint, it doesn’t give any signs of white cast on the skin so it’s suitable for everyone!

And last but definitely not least (this one still ranks far ahead other sunscreens I have tried over the years), is the Paula’s Choice Barrier Protect Mineral Sunscreen ($39USD). This one only has an SPF of 30, so you might see that as a pro or a con depending on what you’re looking for. I personally like an SPF of 50 so I know I’m fully protected no matter where or what I do but it’s all about personal preference! This one is a mineral sunscreen and has a slightly thicker gel-like texture (albeit still lightweight on the skin) instead of a super thin, practically weightless watery texture. It also contains soothing ingredients like allantoin and centella asiatica that help calm and support the skin’s barrier while also providing hydration and smoothing the skin’s surface.

And there you have it! Three stellar spf products from Paula’s Choice. I know I clearly outlined which one was my favorite, but it really all comes down to personal preference and what you’re looking for in a sunscreen. You honestly can’t go wrong with any of these!
