Can we talk about how iconic the Black Honey shade is from Clinique? It’s been around for FOREVER and for good reason too. It is such a universally flattering shade (yet has the magical ability to look different on everyone) thanks to it’s perfect blend of blue, red and yellow pigments in a perfectly sheer base. Clinique carries quite a few different products in their Black Honey shade line-up (including eye shadows, blushes and eyeliners), but this new Clinique Pop Lip + Cheek Oil might just be my favorite.

This Clinique Pop Lip & Cheek Oil ($37CAD/$27USD) is a two-in-one tinted oil that can be used on both the, yup you guessed it, lips and cheeks to give them the most perfect sheer wash of colour. It’s one of those items that you can just pop into your purse to touch up both your blush and lip colour throughout the day. A two-in-one product will ALWAYS be a favorite of mine. But, it’s not just the dual use that gives this lip and cheek oil an edge. It also contains a blend of oils including safflower oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, sunflower seed oil, and castor oil. YUP- five different oils. They work together to ensure your lips and cheeks are fully nourished and conditioned, but are also left with a glossy and glowy finish. And the oil isn’t sticky or thick. It goes on very smoothly.

I’m also obsessed with the big, soft applicator. It’s the perfectly sized applicator that is small enough to accurately coat the lips but is also soft and fluffy enough to apply the oil as blush without disturbing your makeup underneath. I just dot the oil onto my cheeks and then blend with either my fingertips or a blush brush if I have one on hand. I also find the staying power is pretty decent. Usually, a tinted oil definitely does not have the lasting power I usually look for in a makeup product. However, I’m not sure if it’s the Black Honey pigment or just the product in general, but I find even when the initial gloss and shine wears off, colour on both my cheeks and lips is left behind. With that being said, you might find you still have to reapply throughout the day depending on your skin type and needs.
