Herbivore Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil
Herbivore Botanicals review

Herbivore Botanicals is one of those skincare brands that I’ve been dying to try for the longest time. I remember when their infamous Pink Cloud Jelly Cleanser first launched at Sephora and I was so intrigued. The glass bottle and innovative jelly texture captivated me and I couldn’t wait to try their whole skincare line. And now, that time has come! In addition to the beauty and innovation of their products, Herbivore also has the stamp of Green approval at Sephora because all of their products are safe, natural with high-quality ingredients, free of synthetic ingredients, including dyes, fragrances, and parabens. The products are packaged in glass and paper, using recycled & recyclable plastic only when necessary. That’s my kind of skincare line, y’all.

I love face mists. There’s truly nothing better than coming home from work after a long day, feeling like half of your face is just slipping off and spritzing yourself with a hydrating facial spray. And this one from Herbivore is especially special. The Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist ($34USD/$44CAD) contains rosewater to hydrate, soothe and reduce the appearance of redness. In addition, hibiscus flower extract contains malic acid to soften the skin while hyaluronic acid locks in moisture and attracts water to the skin. The spray has a super-fine mist so you don’t have to worry about drenching your skin or ruining your makeup. I just love how refreshed and hydrated my skin feels after just a couple sprays of this product! Plus, it smells heavenly. Y’all know I love a good light rose scent.

Next is the new Herbivore Nova 15% Vitamin C + Turmeric Brightening Serum ($64USD/$84CAD) which was at the top of my list to try. As someone who struggled with acne for many, many years (we’re talking a decade and a half here), my post-acne marks are one of my biggest skin worries. This serum seeks to visibly improve dark spots and even out skin tone while still being gentle on skin. The 15% THD Vitamin C is super stable and nourishing while helping to improve the look of hyperpigmentation. There’s also turmeric that is rich in antioxidants and visibly evens skin tone (and gives it a ginger-y scent!). Last, the Arbutin is a naturally-derived addition to the formula and helps even the appearance of discoloration and tighten the look of pores.

This last product is everything that I’ve ever needed in my skincare routine. Usually, I forgo a facial oil. I know that some face oils can be fantastic for oily skin, but I usually find it’s just an unnecessary step in my already complicated skincare routine. But this Herbivore Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil ($72USD/$94CAD) is the opposite of unnecessary. In fact, it’s very necessary. This is the holy grail face oil for combination, oily, and blemish-prone skin types or any skin in need of balancing hydration. The blue tansy oil contains a component called Azulene which is known to soothe dry or irritated skin, reduce the appearance of redness as well as leave the skin feeling more balanced. Pure plant oils help to lock in hydration without clogging pores so that the skin can stop overcompensating and overproducing oil. Vegan Squalane strengthens the skin‘s natural protective barrier to help lock in moisture while Kukui Nut Oil balances the surface sebum in blemish-prone skin. This oil really does help to keep my oil at bay (ironic, isn’t it?) and mattifies my face during the day while ensuring no new blemishes pop up! Big fan, Herbivore, big fan.
