My skin has been so bad lately. I’m honestly getting so tired of it. When will my body stop going through puberty and we can finally put this whole adult acne thing to rest? I’m starting to think it will just never end. I have accepted the fact that I am going to continue to breakout for the rest of my life. Oh well, there’s worse things in life. It’s just skin afterall.
But that doesn’t mean I’m going to give up and stop searching for the perfect skincare routine for yours truly. I am still a determined lil’ gal. And so, the newest skincare line that I recently started testing out is Higher Education Skincare. Usually when I get a skincare line in the mail, I’m not immediately impressed or excited about it until I start trying it out to see how it does with my skin. But it was different with Higher Education. And that is because it is the cutest branding ever. Higher Education Skincare is a line dedicated to delivering healthy skincare solutions while providing educational tools to empower young millennial and Gen Z women and men to look and feel their best. On the website, Higher Education breaks down every ingredient that’s in their products so you know exactly what is doing what for your skin. It’s really nice to understand what is in your skincare.
What is even cuter is that every product in the line has some sort of an education tie-in name. There is Pre-Req, an acne cleanser, Easy A, toner pads, Rush, Salicylic Acid toner pads, Study Buddy, a clay mask, and Spring Break, a SPF 30 sunscreen as well as dozens of other skincare products that have equally as cute names! It’s all adorable and makes me want to go back to school ASAP. Can you tell I really miss school?
Pre-Req ($19USD) is a gentle foaming cleanser for combination and normal to oily skin types that removes excess oil and makeup. Tea Tree Oil helps to control breakouts. It’s quite a liquidy, watery cleanser but it does foam up quite nicely and doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped! The Easy A toner pads ($24USD) are probably one of my favorite products in the line. They contain glycolic acid (my favorite) so they help to remove dead skin cells, replenish moisture and visibly minimize pore size to leave skin looking vibrant and smooth! And I find that it really helps to control my breakouts as well. Although it’s safe to use these pads every day and night, I only use mine every second night as I have quite sensitive skin. The Rush toner pads ($24USD) are great as well but they contain 2% salicylic acid instead of glycolic acid. I don’t find salicylic acid works great with my skin but these pads help to control oil and remove blackheads while mattifying the skin, leaving it feel clean, cool and refreshed. I also really like the Study Buddy Clarifying and Brightening Mask ($25USD). It’s an exfoliating clay mask that helps to improve skin texture and tone. I love using this mask for 10 minutes a couple times a week or applying it as a spot treatment overnight on pesky pimples! The last product is the Spring Break sunscreen ($25USD). It’s a SPF 30 sunscreen with both UVA and UVB protection (absolutely essential these days). It’s lightweight and has aloe vera and antioxidants to help soothe and balance the skin!
All in all, I find that the products are extremely effective and I love how easy the brand makes it to know exactly how and why you should be putting the products on your skin! They’re great at educating the consumer more about skincare and helps them step away from just using a product because it has pretty packaging and is overhyped. Instead, you can learn to use things specifically for your skin problems! I love that.
