It feels like AGES since I bought a new eyeshadow palette. But the day has finally come where I found a palette that was just unique enough, yet wearable enough, to justify a purchase. So here we are. I’m sure it’s similar for the majority of you but this pandemic has really changed what kind of makeup I gravitate towards. Gone are the days where I go for super funky eye looks. Neutral tones are really all I lean to. But neutral toned eyeshadow palettes are also super boring and let’s be honest, I have way too many neutral palettes as it is. That’s where this Huda Beauty Sand Haze Obsessions Palette ($37CAD/$29USD) comes in. Huda Beauty really knows how to design a good palette and I love these little Obsessions Palettes from her. They’re little, well curated, well priced and well pigmented, but they are always a little more exciting than your average neutral eyeshadow palette. This is my THIRD Obsessions Palette (see my others here and here) and I think this one might just be my favorite. But let me say this now: the new Brown Obsessions Palette in Toffee is really calling my name right now. I am seriously regretting not picking it up during the Sephora VIB sale.
But anyways, we are talking about the Sand Haze Palette today, NOT the Toffee one. We got to stay on track. So, like all of the other Obsessions palettes from Huda Beauty, this is a nine pan palette with a mix of shimmers, glitters and mattes. This one is a mix of five creamy nude mattes, a couple of pink-bronze metallics, and a rose-gold shimmer. It’s so wearable yet the glitters and shimmers make it a super fun palette. I think one of the reasons I love these Huda Beauty palettes so much is because they truly are the perfect mix of shades. You can gravitate towards the mattes for everyday eye looks for work and then top it with some shimmer and glitter for a night out (not that I will be having a night out anytime soon). I just love a good practical palette.
And like all of Huda Beauty’s palettes, I am so impressed with the pigmentation of these shadows. The mattes are so creamy and just glide on to my eye without being chalky. And they’re the perfect level of opaqueness to cover up my ugly veins on my eyes. The glitters are lovely as well. My favorite method to apply these is to just pat them on the center of my eyelid with my ring(less) finger. They honestly just add the perfect finishing touch to any eye look. Perfection, really.
