It’s Not All About the Cows (But Maybe It Is)

The snow on the ground in these photos is a telltale sign of how late I am writing this blog post. No, it didn’t snow in June. I just procrastinated a little too much there. Oops. But, aside from snow, you know what else is in the background of these photos? Cows. They’re not as cute as the Highland cows I got to see last summer in Scotland, but I love all cows. And I visit these cows regularly (thank goodness they in walking distance from where I live). They have yet to approach me when I try to call them from the fence. But I hold out hope that one day they will.

But, this post, unfortunately, isn’t all about cows. No, instead it’s about my cutie cute outfit I’m wearing. Some of the pieces in this outfit are ones I’ve been meaning to talk about on ze blog for quite a while now. So let’s start with this trench coat. Before my Europe trip last summer (yes the same trip where I met my Highland coo friends), I made it my personal mission to find the perfect trench coat. I just couldn’t go to Paris without one. And yes, every single other tourist I saw in Paris was wearing a similar trench coat. But that didn’t bother me in the slightest. This is the Classic Trench Coat from Abercrombie and it’s truly a classic for a reason. It’s both wind and water resistant with a classic fit (not too tailored and not too boxy) with a double-breasted collar and a tie belt at the waist. For size reference, I got mine in a small and it fits a lil’ oversized in my opinion to allow for any layering possibilities. The only downside about it is that once I washed it, it lost some of it’s water resistant capabilities. But that’s a common thing with water repellant coatings.

For the rest of my outfit, I’m wearing one of my favorite cardigans from Commense. I have become such a cardigan girly lately. Maybe it’s because it’s a tad too chilly in my office or maybe they’re just simply a layering necessity. Whatever the reason may be, I just love them. And this one in particular is the most perfect burgundy wine colour with brown speckled buttons. I love to wear it open or with just one button together at the top or fully buttoned as I’m wearing here. It’s cozy and cute and adds a much needed pop of colour to my outfit.

Then, I’m wearing a pair of straight leg mid-rise jeans from Abercrombie. I don’t have too much to say about these jeans. They’re fine, but they’re not my favourite fit or wash. But, they’re comfy so at least they have that going for them. But it’s what is under my jeans that are the real favourite in my eyes: my new boots from Sam Edelman. I had been on the hunt for white or cream leather boots for years. But, like they say, you really only find what you’re looking for once you stop looking. That applies to me, both in boys and in shoes. And I sure did stumble upon these when I least expected to. They’re made of genuine leather (do you think the cows could tell?) with a perfect square toe and a flat heel. Before the weather turned warmer, I was wearing these constantly. They will be in my closet for years to come and that’s just how I like it.
