I know, I know. I know what you all are thinking right now. I jinxed everything by saying, and I quote, “let’s just hope that my next outfit post won’t feature snow on the ground” in my last blog post. Well folks, there is snow on the ground, albeit, most of it has melted but still. There is remnants of snow and I am so not happy about it. I woke up this morning and realized it was probably the warmest it was going to get for the next couple of months (AKA six whole months). So, I knew I needed to take photos of this dress because there was no way I was going to be able to wear it when there’s a full on blizzard going on. It’s now or never. So I picked now.
This dress is so dang pretty and I’m honestly devastated I am going to have to put it away until winter is over. But, the second spring comes around, this will be the first thing I wear. That’s a promise. It’s from a cute brand called Damsel Dresses. The company was started by a friend of a friend and I love supporting local brands so this collaboration was a match made in heaven. Damsel Dresses features, yup you guessed it, dresses that were designed in Canada and crafted and sourced in Vietnam. All of the designs are so girly and feminine in gorgeous pastel shades that are right up my alley.
This is the Dahlia dress ($55CAD/$41USD). It’s a gorgeous beige-y tan that is surprisingly flattering on my pale skin. I was worried it would wash me out but I think it contrasts enough with my skin tone to compliment it. It features plenty of gorgeous details like hand-crafted self-covered buttons, a flowy mini hemline, a dainty back bow-tie (that you can also tie in the front for an alternative look), balloon sleeves, a front cut out with a funnel neck. It’s no basic dress, that’s for sure. But my favorite thing about this dress has to be the fact that it’s double-lined. It gives the dress a nice weight to it so it’s not flimsy at all and it definitely doesn’t feel cheap. It’s a really nice quality fabric that isn’t see-through at all. Thank goodness!
Normally, if it was still summer, I would wear this dress with a cute straw hat and a pair of heeled sandals but alas, that ship has sailed. I am trying to fully embrace fall (and the start of winter) so I paired the dress with sheer black tights to winterize it. The tights didn’t serve much of a purpose to keep me warm so I added these knee high suede boots from Zara. I’ve recently fallen back in love with tall boots. It seemed for a while there I only wanted to wear little ankle booties but I think tall boots are where it’s at this winter. I am now on the hunt for the perfect pair of knee high leather boots with a slightly pointed almond toe. Very specific, I know.

LOVE that dress, it’s so cute. But wow, I can’t believe you already had some snow! It’s still like 60-70 degrees here in Connecticut!

If you’re unhappy with the snow, will you please send it my way? We’ve been having some unseasonably warm days and I’m not about it. I hate when it goes above 70°F! I much prefer it be chilly or cold at all times. I thrive in that weather and would LOVE some snow for the first few weeks of November! Gorgeous dress, by the way. It looks stunning with those boots, and you could add a cardigan or jacket for more warmth!
