I know I posted about an outfit just a week ago featuring a midi length skirt but to be honest, I can’t stop wearing them. It’s officially that time in the summer (AKA one whole week in Edmonton) where it’s so hot and humid that the thought of wearing full length pants just makes me want to crawl into a hole and die in my puddle of sweat. Wow that really took a turn for the worse.
And you know the best part of wearing midi length skirts as opposed to anything knee length or shorter? I don’t have to worry about making sure my legs are shaved or that I have a decent amount of self tanner on. There is only minimal amounts of skin showing. Just the way I like it. And yet, even though my legs are covered up, skirts create such a nice breezy feeling that keeps me cool.
This particular skirt is from Simons and I was very drawn to the colours and the geometric print of it. This skirt is my whole colour palette (with the exception of mustard yellow). Nude, cream, burnt orange and black. Those are really the only shades I wear so it couldn’t have been more perfect for me. And this print! It’s really taking colour-blocking to a whole new level. It’s giving me all these 80’s vibes. Is that the right decade? I don’t know. I wasn’t even born yet. Give me a break.
So, in classic Taylor style, I can’t handle being too dressed up. I really like to pair more fancy pieces with chill, casual clothes so people don’t think I’m too high maintenance (even though I totally am, let’s be honest). And thus, with this skirt, I decided to tuck in a very simple cream tank top with my favorite Zara cream denim jacket over top. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve worn this denim jacket over the years. It’s reached that point where the denim is so worn down that it’s the softest, comfiest thing to wear. It’s perfect. I love pieces like that. It’s just very lived in.
