Guys. You know how I know I am getting old? I now pick my skincare on the basis of clean, natural, effective and organic ingredients rather than pretty packaging and whatever is overhyped on YouTube. Gone are the days when I would buy skincare from brands like Sunday Riley and Guerlain (not saying that I don’t love some of their products) because that’s what all the cool kids were using. Now I actually do my research and find out what actually works for my skin. And because of that, my skin has never been better.
Kosmea is an Australian natural skin care company founded on the healing properties of certified organic rosehip oil. I had never actually heard of Kosmea before I was sent these products to try out but they’re sold on Well.ca so I figured they must be good. Afterall, Well.ca is known for only stocking the best of the best brands (Enter code: OLDER10 for $10 off your purchase at Well.ca). But this post ain’t about Well.ca. It’s all about Kosmea today. Let’s stay on track, Taylor.
Let’s talk about the Revive Illuminating Essence first ($53.99CAD, 20ml). I’ve been slacking with using serums/oils/essences lately. Throughout quarantine, I took the minimalist route and only used a cleanser, acne treatment and moisturizer as part of my skincare routine. But now that winter is coming, I’m getting my shit life together and incorporating all the extras (AKA eye cream, toner, serum and oil) back into my routine. And this essence is exactly what I needed to start that transition. It’s a superfine, lightweight (not greasy) facial oil that gives skin a brightening, antioxidant boost, leaving it looking more rejuvenated, healthy and vibrant. It offers protection against damaging free radicals whilst hydrating and protecting skin. The Rosehip Oil, CoQ10 and Vitamin C enhance skin’s elasticity, diminishes fine lines and delivers an intense boost of hydration to help prevent premature ageing. Restorative antioxidants from the pomegranate and raspberry oils help to moisturize and stimulate cell turnover, yielding a dramatic improvement in your skin’s texture and appearance. Yeah. That’s a lot of benefits. My skin is loving every single one of them. I massage 2 drops of this oil into my skin every night and I’m actually seeing results! My skin is glowing, clear and hydrated! Happy skin, happy Taylor.
Next is the Clarifying Facial Wash ($42.99CAD, 150ml). Can we just discuss why natural/organic/clean ingredient brands have such pricey cleansers? I’m used to cleansers from mid-range skincare brands costing more around the $30 mark (like Clarins and Biotherm) so I’m always shocked when I see the price tag of these other more natural brands. But it’s probably for good reason as I absolutely love all the more expensive cleansers I have tried from these brands. It is a gentle SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) free foaming cleanser that helps to clarify and tone the skin. And best of all, it doesn’t dry out my skin or strip it of vital nutrients but I find that it gives it a really good cleanse. I love wiping my face with a white towel afterwards and not seeing even a bit of makeup rubbed off. That’s how I know I like a cleanser.
The last product is the Rose Glow Hand Cream ($24.99CAD, 75ml). I feel like this review is going to be pretty self explanatory. It’s a pandemic. I buy 10 new bottles of hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works twice a week. Take your best guess why I love this hand cream. Yup, you’re right. My hands are hella dry and I do need a good hand cream now more than ever. This one smells absolutely amazing (if you love a good rose scent, that is) thanks to the Damascus Rose Flower Water and Rosewood Oil. And the shea butter with essential fatty acids, vitamin E and allantoin nourishes and protects the hands. It’s truly a COVID-19 necessity.
