To put it bluntly, I am a big fan of Laneige. There are very few skincare brands in which I love every product they release but Laneige is definitely one of them (Clarins is another, if you’re curious). I feel like their Water Sleeping Mask is what put Laneige’s name on the map. It’s a holy grail in so many people’s skincare routine (that and the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask (review here). Due to the popularity of the original Water Sleeping Mask, Laneige recently released a whole new version of it- a lavender scented one!
Now, I love anything lavender. It’s so soothing and calming. I’m pretty sure the skincare my mom used to use when I was a wee child was lavender scented so it’s a very nostalgic smell for me. It has a certain comforting presence associated with it. But don’t get me wrong, the original Water Sleeping Mask smells amazing too with a combination of orange flower, rose, and sandalwood. However, the Lavender one is the clear winner in my books.
So what exactly does this Lavender Water Sleeping Mask ($25USD/$33CAD) do? It’s a gel mask that works overnight to give an extreme amount of hydration to the skin with the Hydro Ionized Mineral Water. This mineral water is formulated with six essential minerals (zinc, manganese, magnesium, sodium, calcium and potassium) that are ionized and stabilized in water (uh, I’m not going to pretend to know what that means) to deliver Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF) that are similar to the skin’s own moisturizing agents to retain that moisture!
But, in addition to the moisturizing aspect of this Water Sleeping Mask, it also contains a purification technology called Sleep-Tox that helps calm the skin from damage caused by external stressors (ie pollution) that the skin suffers from during the day. Detoxing while you sleep. I like it. And, antioxidant-rich apricot and Evening Primrose help to reveal a glowing appearance once you wake up in the morning! Talk about getting your beauty rest!
