I have to admit, it’s been a minute since I tested out a drugstore shampoo or conditioner. Unless you count Kristin Ess haircare as drugstore (which it probably is considered drugstore since you can get it at Target), then it hasn’t been long at all. I feel like drugstore haircare gets such a bad rap these days so I was excited to try this line and really put it to the test to see if it can truly stand it’s own next to it’s higher-end competitors.
This is the Dream Lengths line from L’Oreal and it’s just the thing my hair has been needing lately. Between my busy schedule and this pandemic, I haven’t had a chance to get my hair cut in over eight months (bad, I know), so it’s long. A little too long. And because it’s so long, I need some extra special haircare to help keep it healthy and without breakage. And that’s where this L’Oreal Dream Lengths line comes in. Both the Dream Lengths shampoo ($8.99CAD/$4.99USD) and conditioner ($8.99CAD/$4.99USD) formula contain a powerful mix of vegetal keratin, castor oil and vitamins. The keratin repairs hair all the way to the tip while the castor oil nourishes, adds shine and helps keep hair long and the vitamins help keep the hair strong. Both the shampoo and condition are lightly scented (similar to the typical scent that is all too common in L’Oreal haircare) and leave my hair feeling soft and silky. As for all the other benefits I just mentioned, I can’t say I’ve noticed anything revolutionary or wildly different with my hair. But then again, it’s pretty hard to notice my hair being extra strong or having reduced breakage. I’ll keep you posted.
Now the Dream Lengths 8-Second Wonder Water ($13.99CAD/$9.99USD). This product has been going viral on TikTok lately, I just keep seeing it everywhere. And if you’re anything like me (AKA you watch TikTok 24/7), you probably have been too. This Wonder Water is a really unique product- I haven’t seen anything like it on the market. It looks as simple as water but it’s so much more than that. It’s described as an in-shower liquid detangler. In the shower, you apply the water directly to wet hair on your lengths only. You then massage it into the ends for only eight seconds and then rinse it out. The amount of doses depends on your hair type. You should 1 dose (20ml) for fine to medium hair and 2-3 doses for thicker to wavier hair. And, if you have extra-long hair, add on another dose. The bottle even has 20ml (1 dose) markings on the bottle so you don’t have to worry about bringing a measuring cup into the shower with you. How handy. What’s even more handier, however, is how well this product works. As soon as it is applied on the hair, it instantly detangles for sleek, smooth lengths in just 8 seconds. I noticeably find that my hair easily detangles after I blowdry it and I am able to comb or brush through it with ease. However, other than that, I don’t particularly find it smooths my hair or adds any shine. But, if you’re looking for a great detangler, this is the one for you!
