As I mentioned in one of my previous makeup reviews featuring the Colourpop Yes, Please! Palette (review here), I recently went to the States and while I was there, you know I couldn’t resist popping in to Ulta. It was actually my first time seeing an Ulta in-person so I guess you could say I was a lil’ excited. However, it wasn’t like what I expected. I guess I was expecting it to be like a Shopper’s Beauty Boutique on steroids when in reality it was more like a London Drugs on steroids. Did I just subtly diss London Drugs? You bet I did. It’s just not quite as glamorous as a Beauty Boutique or a Sephora. Nonetheless, Ulta has a TON of brands we can’t get here in Canada so I was still as happy as could be.
One of the brands at Ulta was Makeup Revolution. I thiiiiink we can get Makeup Revolution in Canada? Maybe at London Drugs? I honestly have no idea but I think they only carry a tiny selection of it in Edmonton. So, I took the opportunity to pick up a couple of palettes at Ulta. These are the Reloaded Palettes and I instantly fell in love with all of the different shades and colourways. I think they had over ten different varieties of these palettes! The two colours I picked up was Division ($7USD/$10CAD) and Provocative ($7USD/$10CAD).
Provocative is a gorgeous pink-toned palette with varying shades of pinks, purples and browns. Out of the fifteen shades, it’s a pretty even match of shimmers and mattes. Seven shades are shimmery and eight shades are matte. The Division palette is the more unique palette by far with some greens, yellows, blues and purple. There’s hardly any shimmers in this palette with the majority being matte, with 12 matte shades and three shimmers.
For the price, these palettes are amazing. At $7USD/$10CAD, they really can’t be beat. Sure, the shadow quality isn’t anywhere near a Viseart or Natasha Denona formula but I would say these palettes are on par with Colourpop or even Smashbox. They’re not the best of the best but they’re nowhere near the worst either. I know my swatches make these shadows look absolutely terrible but I promise they just don’t swatch as well as they perform. The shades tend to have a little fallout and are almost chalky at time (especially the mattes) but I found that they blended out beautifully on the eyes and the pigmentation was incredible! The shimmers were a little hard to work with with the glitter clumping together at times but again, you get what you paid for. I wasn’t expecting the smoothest, buttery shadows. I just loved the shades in both of these palettes and I thought they would well in my makeup collection. And I was definitely right about that.

I agree, for the price they are pretty good! I don’t have these two palettes but Provocative is beautiful!
