Are you as shocked as I am right now? It’s November 3rd (as I’m writing this) and there is still no snow on the ground. I don’t think there has ever been a November in Alberta where it hasn’t snowed. Granted, it’s only the third day into the month but still. This is quite the accomplishment. I feel like I should be a meteorologist due to how often I start my blog posts off with updates on the weather but it’s honestly often the highlight of my day. And, because the majority of you don’t live in Edmonton, I feel the need to share the weather with you as it really is the biggest force at hand when choosing my outfits.

For example, the weather fully impacted this dress. I have been wanting a sweater dress for the longest time however they just didn’t seem practical to me. I had a friend once who used to call items like these seasonally confused. Take a cute sleeveless turtleneck. It’s seasonally confused because it’s going to keep your body warm but your arms will be freezing. When will you wear it? Or a fur vest. Once again, your body will be toasty but your arms will fall off due to hypothermia. That’s also how I felt about sweater dresses. They are so, so cute but aren’t practical when your legs will be freezing as soon as you step outside. But, my feelings about sweater dresses changed when I tried on this Wilfred Cyprie dress from Aritzia. It’s a long long-sleeve, turtleneck sweater dress with dropped shoulders, dolman sleeves and a thigh slit. It’s made of 100% merino wool AND the length goes down to mid-calf so it’s super warm. It covers 86% (very exact, I know) of my body so I don’t freeze to death!

And to keep me even warmer, I paired these knee-high suede boots from Zara with the dress so the majority of my legs are covered as well (minus the little bit of thigh from the slit but I can live with that). Because of this, I can now successfully wear a dress in winter and nothing makes me happier than that. Nothing. Overtop of my dress, I am wearing my new coat I recently picked up at Aritzia (someone really needs to stop me spending money at Aritzia). This is the Charlize coat and you might be thinking it looks a tad familiar. That’s because I already have this coat in the most beautiful burgundy colour (see here and here). I wore this coat constantly last year. It even made its way onto my 2019 Most Worn Items list. Yes, I wore it that much. And thus, when I saw it come out this year in my favorite Dry Basil Green colour, I had to have it. It was a necessity. And I don’t regret buying it one bit.

I love a good monochrome, matchy-matchy look so I was super excited to see how well this coat and dress paired together. They’re both in my beloved Dry Basil Green shade so it was a match made in heaven. Speaking of Dry Basil Green, Aritzia also launched a Super Puff in the same shade. I’m trying really hard to resist buying it but please don’t be surprised if you see it in a blog post later this month. No, I’m just kidding, I am on a strict no-buy for the rest of 2020. I have enough clothes (I think).

One other thing that I want to mention before I wrap up this blog post is the newest addition to my ear! I used to have only three piercings: one on each lobe and a cute lil’ cartilage piercing but I recently got second holes on each of my earlobes and I love them! I know it might not seem like a big deal to most people but I always struggle getting permanent things on my body even though piercings aren’t technically permanent as you can take them out at any time and let the hole close up. But, I couldn’t love these piercings more! I think the little silver studs look so stinkin’ cute! Hopefully this won’t be the catalyst towards me piercing every inch of my body.

Love the Cyprie sweater dress! Was it true to size? What size did you get?

Hi Julia! I got my usual size, an XS, but I do find it fits oversized so you could size down one size as well depending on how you want it to fit!

Hello! Looking to purchase this coat- does it run big? I can’t decide if I should get an XS or S.
