Oh, Paula’s Choice. How I love you. I had taken a backseat to the skincare world there for a little while. No products were exciting me and I was just sticking to the staples: cleanser, moisturizer and micellar water. Nothing more, nothing less. But when Paula’s Choice sent me their newest serum, I knew it was time to add a serum back into my skincare routine.
This is the Power Berry Serum ($31USD) from Paula’s Choice and to put it simply, it’s like this serum was custom made for me. I’m only 24 so anti-aging isn’t a huge concern for me yet but it’s definitely on my radar. Next year I will be 25 and then that’s so close to 30 and before then I will be 40 with three kids, a goldendoodle named Oakley Jr. and a G-Wagon. Wow, living life to my fullest. Okay, we gotta keep on track. No more fantasizing about the future. What I’m trying to say is that I may look 12 right now but 40 is right around the corner so I gotta start protecting my skin while I still can.
The Paula’s Choice Power Berry Serum is in the Earth Sourced range meaning it has 95% natural origin ingredients (there is also a cleanser, toner and moisturizer in this line). But not only does it contain a multitude of natural ingredients, Paula’s Choice also chose to avoid any natural ingredients that can irritate skin which can contribute to premature signs of aging. These include essential oils that are among the most common offenders seen in natural skin care from other brands.
As the name, Power Berry Serum, would suggest, this serum contains 13 berries that help to neutralize environmental damage while preserving youthful looking skin. These berries have antioxidant properties that work together to defend skin from aging free radicals while preventing future damage. Sea buckthorn, raspberry, elderberry and squalene revitalize, hydrate and soothe the skin. But what makes this serum the real winner is the texture. It’s not a usual serum texture. It’s a silicone-free, milky gel texture that absorbs super quickly into the skin while also lightly hydrating. It’s not sticky at all and feels so silky on the skin! But it’s a super pretty pink shade (naturally tinted from the berries). I’m a big, big fan.
