I am a lip balm fiend. I don’t know when the obsession started, but for as long as I can remember, I have always been on the lookout for the next best lip balm. Actually, the addiction probably started with my unhealthy collection of Lip Smackers back in the day. And that then transitioned into collecting every EOS lip balm colour, and now, here we are today.
Now, before I start this review, let me just say I am still very much Team Selena in this whole Selena Gomez vs. Hailey Bieber debate (although that drama has seemed to die down quite a bit recently). But, I must admit I was dying to try Mrs. Bieber’s Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment ($16USD/$24CAD). On first glance, this might seem like your average lip balm in a tube, but it’s so much more than that. First of all, the packaging is truly *chef’s kiss*. It’s a matte silicone-like slim tube that can be slipped in to any purse, pocket, or drawer. The applicator is a rounded plastic tip that fits the contours of your lips perfectly and ensures the product glides on. The user experience is truly phenomenal for this lip balm.
But what’s on the inside counts too. The Peptide Lip Treatment contains, well, peptides. They help to visibly plump and reduce the look of fine lines so your lips look full and luscious. It also contains shea butter to hydrate and moisturize while Cupuaçu helps to maintain skin elasticity, improving suppleness for dry and dehydrated lips. Lastly, babassu, which is a rich, natural source of lauric acid, helps to support the microbiome and replenish overall skin moisture. Your lips are left restored, replenished and softer.
And for those of you who are all about the scents, the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment comes in four (well, three) different fragrances: Salted Caramel, Watermelon Slice, Rhode Vanilla, and Unscented. Mine is in the salted caramel scent and it’s truly heavenly. Just the right amount of sweetness but not overpowering in any way.
