Rodial Dragon's Blood Cleansing Water

I have this weird obsession with micellar waters. They are by far my favorite step of any skincare routine and I am constantly on the hunt for the next best micellar water. To date, most of the micellar waters I have used are less expensive and all fall under the $25 price range (I will link some of my all-time favorites at the end of this post), but I’m always open to trying out a more expensive, prestige micellar water to see if they can possibly be any better than the cheaper ones I have used.

This is the Rodial Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water ($47CAD/$45USD). It’s definitely on the higher end of prices for micellar waters but I was excited to put it to the test to see if it really was worth the extra money. Afterall, the only other micellar water I’ve tried that’s this expensive is the Dior Hydra Life Micellar Water ($51CAD/$43USD) and that one was pure magic in a bottle (full review here) so you best believe I had high expectations for this one as well.

What makes the Rodial Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water special and different are the ingredients. Rose water and micellar oil help to gently remove any makeup and oil while the signature Dragon’s Blood hydrates and soothes the skin. Vitamin b3 illuminates the skin and provides a brighter complexion while the Hyaluronic Acid helps to lock in moisture and plump up fine lines. These ingredients help to set apart this micellar water from other, cheaper ones but I still don’t know if I’m convinced it’s worth the money.

Sure, I like the convenient pump lid on the bottle and the hydrating properties of the Hyaluronic Acid and Dragon’s Blood (whatever that means), but I personally don’t think it cleanses any better than a drugstore micellar water. I find that I have to use a lot more of this product to remove all of my makeup unlike my beloved Nivea Micellar Water ($7.99CAD/$6.99USD) (review here). Plus, it does have a tendency to sting my eyes if excess liquid gets in which is never a fun feeling. And so, I will end this review with this verdict: if you’re feeling splurgy and want nice packaging, try the Rodial Micellar Water. But, if you’re like me and just want a reasonably priced and effective micellar water, stick to the drugstore options.
