Okay, my legs are especially pale in today’s blog post and I’m not proud of it at all. But, I have some good news to share. My legs are no longer this pale. In fact, they might be actually tan for the first time ever in my whole entire life. That is quite the achievement. It’s all thanks to the week I spent in Mexico at the end of July. Oh yeah, did I even mention on ze blog I was going to Mexico? Well I did. And it was fabulous. We (my boyfriend and I) stayed at the Hilton Playa Del Carmen and it couldn’t have been more perfect (well, except for my Sunwing flight being delayed 24 hours but alas, such is life).
Anyways, none of that has anything to do with what this blog post is actually about: my outfit. I’ve said it before on ze blog and I’ll say it again. I really do hate dressing for summer and the hot weather. It’s just so boring. You can’t layer, you can’t wear anything you will sweat in, there’s just too many restrictions. I just want Fall and my pumpkin spice lattes and my blanket scarves and my mini Ugg boots. That’s all.
Whoops. There I go on a tangent again. Back to this outfit. This is an outfit I wore a lot this summer. Let’s start with the shorts. These are the PERFECT shorts. And that is no exaggeration. These are the Wilfred Fable Linen 5″ shorts in Natural Ecru from Aritzia. Going into the summer I knew if there was one staple clothing item I needed to buy this year, it was a good pair of shorts. My shorts collection was truly lacking before I brought these shorts into my life. They are a mid-rise pleated shorts with an elastic back and slash hand pockets. The elastic back is truly what makes these shorts so great. They’re so comfy and never feel too tight no matter how much I eat or how bloated I’m feeling. And the fabric! The fabric is made with a blend of 66% TENCEL™ Lyocell and 34% linen so they’re super lightweight, super breathable, and super great for temperatures above 30 degrees (celsius of course).
Now the top- also from Aritzia (of course). This is the Wilfred Daydreamer V-Neck Blouse and it’s the top version of my beloved Daydreamer Midi Dress. It is a v-neck trapeze blouse with accordion pleats and long sleeves. It’s a super lightweight semi-sheer chiffon so I can even wear it in the hot summer months (thank goodness). It’s quite the stunner although I might like the dress version a tad more (and is a better bang for your buck – $158 for the mini dress versus $138 for the top).
Before I stop rambling for the immediate future, I just have one more thing to discuss about my outfit: this purse. This is the Telfar Mini Shopping Bag and it’s a purse I’ve wanted for, well, a really long time. My friend got it for me as a graduation gift (ugh thank you again!!) and I love that it will always remind me of graduating from my MBA. The bag has a double strap with both short little handles and a long one that can be used either as a cross-body strap or hanging on just one shoulder. The lavender faux leather features a simple, discreet embossed logo on the front and a magnetic snap closure is the only bit of hardware on the bag. It’s incredibly simple yet is the perfect little bag for either day or night.
