Summer Is Springing Itself On Me

I think this might just be the most summery outfit I have ever showcased on ze blog. It’s always funny how summer seems to just suddenly spring (no pun intended) itself on me every year. One day it’s 16°C and cloudy and then I wake up the next morning and it’s 32°C. I am just never fully prepared for it. I have to rush to put away my booties and jackets and pull out tank tops and sandals. Such a quick transition. But it’s not an unwanted transition. It’s always welcomed. I will take the sun over the snow anyday.

So, my summer outfits usually consist of a combination of the same items. One: Ripped straight leg jeans (preferably the Liya style from Citizens of Humanity or another boyfriend style). Two: Sneakers. So many sneakers. Three: Some sort of blanket-like cardigan because I get cold even on 32°C days. I’m pretty sure that’s all I wore last summer anyways.

But this year, I’m determined to add a bit more fun elements into my outfits. That includes fun hair accessories. I have been loving how hair clips and headbands are taking over the accessories world lately. Now I have an excuse to not wash my hair even longer! Cute. I recently got this headband from H&M and I’m obsessed. I don’t know where I got the idea that these style of wrap headbands didn’t flatter my head shape but I’m so glad I decided to try it on because my opinion of them immediately changed. I love the summery print of this one combined with the orange and mustard colour palette. I definitely want to add more solid colour and printed headbands into the mix from now on (this one is next on my list)!

Another fun element that I’ve been incorporating into my summer #OOTD’s are statement earrings. I’ve been wearing big earrings for a year now and this is one trend that I hope never ever dies. I have over 30 pairs of funky earrings that I really don’t want to go to waste. The newest addition to that collection are these earrings from Mango. I’ve always admired Mango earrings but it took me until now to place my first order. But, I was slightly disappointed as one of the pairs arrived broken. It kind of turned me off the brand seeing as the earrings cost me over $30 each. But this pair has yet to break (knock on wood) so I will keep you updated. They’re a chunky gold hoop with a bedazzled pearl. Ooh, that is a Taylor earring right there. They are slightly heavy on my ears but I guess I do equate that with quality. So it’s a love hate relationship.
