    Sephora Reveal the Real Review
    Sephora Reveal the Real Review
Yves Saint Laurent Nu tint review

Okay, so I know in my last Sephora Collection review back in 2021, I absolutely tore apart their Best Skin Ever Foundation ($29CAD) because, in fact, it was actually not giving the best skin ever. But, thank goodness that this new Sephora Collection Reveal The Real 12HR Soft Radiant Skin Tint ($29CAD/$22USD) actually lives up to it’s name and it has officially restored all of my faith in Sephora branded makeup.

But, the reason I’m not doing a dedicated post on just the Sephora Collection Reveal The Real Skin Tint and instead doing a Battle of the Skin Tints post is because this skin tint actually has the potential to replace my favorite foundation of all time: the Yves Saint Laurent Nu Bare Look Hydrating Skin Tint ($59.50CAD/$46USD). I’ve talked about the YSL Nu Skin Tint many times on ze blog. It’s the perfect skin tint. It’s lightweight, has the perfect amount of hydration, and provides a decent amount of coverage for being just a tint as it’s name states. But I think the attribute that has to be most highlighted is it’s skincare benefits. It’s infused with glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and mallow so it helps to brighten the skin while plumping and providing 24 hour hydration!

Now, I would be happy to just stick with the YSL Nu Skin Tint, I really would. There’s just two wee little problems with it. The first is that it’s a whopping 60 bucks and I seem to go through the tube faster than I would like. The second is the bigger problem of the two. My shade, #2, seems to always be sold out at Shoppers Drug Mart, Holt Renfrew, and the YSL website. The only place I can currently find my shade is on Sephora, although it did say low stock last time I placed an order. And so, because of that, I began the search to find a comparable skin tint before it does get (inevitably) discontinued.

And this Sephora Collection Reveal The Real Skin Tint is surprisingly close in terms of skin appearance to the YSL Nu Skin Tint. It’s has a weightless feel on the skin thanks to it’s serum-like texture and although it does provide a light coverage, it’s surprisingly buildable. It leaves a really pretty radiant finish on the skin and helps to even out your skin tone while blurring any pores and skin texture. As far as it’s longevity and lasting power, I find it’s once again very similar to the YSL Nu Skin Tint. Because it’s more of a radiant finish and I have oily skin, it definitely needs to be set with a powder and even then, it only lasts 8 hours at most. But, you can’t win them all.

So, who wins this Battle of the Skin Tints? It’s a close contest for sure. If they were the same price, I would go with the YSL Nu Skin Tint because of it’s skincare benefits. But they are sadly not the same price and if the YSL Nu Skin Tint does end up discontinuing my shade (please don’t though), I will gladly switch over to the Sephora Reveal The Real Skin Tint and will not complain too much about it.
