The new Quo Featherweight Cream Blush (and how it compares to the Glossier Cloud Paints)

2020 has truly been the year of cream blushes. I have reached that point where all I want to wear on my cheeks is a cream or liquid blush and the mere thought of a powder blush makes me shiver in fear. ANd luckily, it seems like every makeup brand feels the exact same way because there has been so many new and exciting cream blush launches this year! And to date, I’ve already reviewed SEVEN cream blushes in 2020 (see the reviews here) so it only seems fitting that I review another one for the start of 2021.

And in that review I wrote back at the end of 2020, I did say, and I quote, “there is one from Quo at Shoppers Drug Mart that I’ve been meaning to give a try. I’ll do an update on this post if that one ends up being spectacular”. Well, now that you’re reading this post, you all know what that means. I did end up buying one of the Quo Featherweight Cream Blushes and spoiler alert, it did end up being spectacular. Upon first glance, you might think this Quo blush looks incredibly similar to another cream blush on the market: the Glossier Cloud Paint. The whole “painter’s” inspired tube is very similar between the two. Suspicious. Very suspicious 🤨. But alas, I just had to know how this Quo one compares to my beloved Glossier Cloud Paint blushes.

The Quo Featherweight Cream Blushes come in eight different shades (none of which are especially unique or exciting), retail for $14CAD and are available exclusively at Shoppers Drug Marts here in Canada. They have an extremely lightweight, fluffy formula. I would say the texture is more similar to a gel rather than a cream. They are quite easy to blend out however, as with any other cream blush, you need the tiniest amount. A little sure does go a long way. I love applying it with a fluffy blush brush but your fingertips can get the job done as well. I’ve just always been adverse to using my fingers to apply makeup.

I got mine in the shade Halo #35, only because it was in the cute holiday packaging and was on clearance for half off after Christmas. You know I just can’t stay away from a good deal. It really is the only way I can justify myself to keep buying makeup. It’s a mid-tone pink leaning towards coral undertones. It’s not too bright but definitely not too subtle either. What I really noticed about this blush however was how long it stayed on. It’s extremely long wearing. It almost stains your skin so much so that I really had to scrub my hand to get it off after photographing these swatches and even then, there was still some colour left behind.

So how exactly does it compare to the Glossier Cloud Paints? Well, the colour range is similar. The pigmentation and level of sheerness is similar. The packaging is similar. The ease of blending is similar. But what differs is the price point, longwearing, and the finish. These retail for $14CAD (although they do go on sale often) where as the Glossier Cloud Paints retail for $22CAD + shipping costs (or use this link to get 10% off). And I do find the Quo blush is slightly longer wearing. I often notice the Cloud Paints almost dissipate after a couple of hours. And lastly, the finish is quite different. The Glossier Cloud Paints tend to have a more satin to matte finish whereas the Quo blush has a natural creamy and luminous glow to it. With that being said, I really do like both the Quo and Glossier cream blushes and I will probably continue to buy both.
