Five days until Christmas. The countdown is officially on and I couldn’t be more excited. The lead up to Christmas always seems so long until we get to this point. And then it just passes by so quickly as I’m struggling to finish all of my last minute shopping (so many gifts to buy, so little time). As you’re reading this, I am hopefully on my way to the Mountains (Banff to be exact) on a ski trip with my friends for some much needed relaxation and friendship time. I haven’t been out to Banff or Jasper at all this winter so I am as pumped as ever to see the mountains. That is one sight that will never get old. Let’s hope this trip is a good one!
You know when you get an item of clothing and you just CAN’T stop wearing it? You look into your closet and it seems like all you see is that item and so, you wear it day after day and feel no shame in being an outfit repeater. That is exactly how I feel about this sweater. It is part of the Pringle of Scotland and H&M collaboration and I have had my eye on it for MONTHS. But alas it sold out quickly online and shopping in store is never my favorite thing. But I was at an outlet mall the other day and I stumbled across this sweater and I knew it was fate. It was on clearance for like 25 bucks (a STEAL). It’s a cropped grey sweater with an asymmetrical argyle print and fun chartreuse accents. It’s just so soft and cozy. H&M really does make the best knitwear and their collaboration with Pringle of Scotland is no different.
But we can’t only talk about this sweater in this outfit post because it’s not the solo star of the show. This coat is also making an appearance today. For YEARS now, I have talked about the absence of a perfect black coat in my wardrobe. I used to only have one black coat (a shock, I know) and it was this ratty ol’ thang from Forever 21 (see here). Although I did like that coat and wore it for many years, I was always on the hunt for something to replace it but that’s easier said than done.
When Black Friday came around, I was casually browsing the Aritzia website searching for any good sales and I stumbled upon this coat. This is the Hasek Wool Coat and it might just be the black coat of my dreams. It’s a blend of wool and cashmere so it’s warm enough for these Albertan winters (I’ve worn it comfortably in -10°C weather but any colder and I pull out my parka). I found it to fit a tad on the big size so I sized down and got an XXS (I am usually an XS at Aritzia). But what I love most about this coat is the collar. It has a high collar that wraps around the side with an asymmetrical button so it keeps all the cold air out! But it also looks great not buttoned up for more of a casual look! It’s just a really good coat all around.
