When I’m Older is Ten Years Old!

I take a month break from the blog and all of a sudden it’s spring. Surprise! It’s been a BUSY couple of months here in the background of When I’m Older and I’m finally now just getting a chance to breathe. The blog really has taken its place on the backburner of my life. But it’s funny- yesterday I got this strong urge to pick up my camera and shoot some photos for a blog post. And I think there was a subconscious reason behind that because, coincidentally, the very next day was my ten year blog anniversary that I had totally forgot about. TEN YEARS. Ten years of blogging. Ten years of logging all of my favorite outfits (speaking of logging, I just figured out the term blogging comes from web log. Huh. You learn something new everyday). Ten years of rambling on and on about my favorite makeup. Ten years of journaling my experience with figuring out a skincare routine that works for me. And ten years of learning more and more about myself and documenting whatever is on my mind. It’s absolutely crazy to me that I started this blog when I was 16 and now I’m 26. I don’t think 16 year old Tay would have ever thought we’d end up here. She’d also probably be a little bit disappointed that I haven’t posted anything in a month but hey, we’re (read: I’m) trying our best over here. Anyways, in celebration of my blog’s ten year anniversary, let’s take a walk down memory la(i)ne and have a look here at the first ever outfit post I did on ze blog back in June of 2012 (and because I don’t think I’ve embarrassed myself enough, let’s also take a look here at my first ever outfit video). Who would have thought that would have turned into this.

Speaking of this, let’s take a look at my outfit today! Yes, we’re still in a pandemic but I’m finally starting to regain a little bit of personal style in my outfits. The leggings and crewnecks are fading away and cute Springy pieces are re-entering. Hallelujah. I am absolutely obsessed with this lavender knit duster. It’s everything I’ve ever needed and more. It’s funny, before this pandemic comfort was often the last thing on my mind. I couldn’t care less if an item of clothing was comfortable or not. But now, that’s a big consideration of mine. Before buying an item, I ask myself if it’s something that I could sit in for hours in front of my computer. And well, this duster cardigan definitely fits that criteria. It’s a super soft brushed knit that perfectly replicates the feeling of a huge blanket wrapped around you. Who doesn’t want that when they’re sitting for hours during a never ending 9am Zoom meeting? I got it for a hell of a deal from Sosken Studios and I’m so glad I did because listen up. As gorgeous as this cardigan is, it pills more than anything has ever pilled before. Because the material is super soft and super delicate, the fibres pill up at the slightest mention of friction against another surface. It’s really too bad, but I’m willing to overlook that for now. I’ll just have to get some sort of fabric shaver and do regular maintenance on it every once in a while. It’s worth it.

Underneath the duster (what kind of word is duster anyways?), I’m wearing a white t-shirt. Big surprise there. My love of plain white t-shirts has not faded during this pandemic. It really is here to stay (the white t-shirts, not the pandemic. Hopefully). I’m also wearing these new Citizens of Humanity jeans. As you probably know by now, I love Citizens. They just seem to fit me better than any other brand. Although, I do really want to try some Agolde ones. Tiktok is just really convincing me. Anyways, these are the Olivia style and they have a straight leg (that’s not totally skinny, okay Gen Z?) with a fun exposed button fly. I’m usually not one to like exposed button flies but this one just seems a lil’ more subtle so I dig it. They’re a great pair of jeans. And I love that they’re not a stretchy denim so they suck me in in all the right places.

But this PURSE. We need to talk about this purse. I’ve never been one to fork over a ton of cash for a purse but as soon as I saw this purse, it was love at first sight. I just knew I needed to have it and it was an investment I was going to have to make. This is the Coach Pillow Tabby Shoulder Bag in the 26 size (they also have a smaller 18 size). I got it in the Ivory colour with brass hardware although the green colour is absolute perfection. But I thought the cream would be a little more wearable and versatile. it’s so gorgeous. It’s a super plush, puffy napa leather and smooth leather exterior with a zippered compartment inside, a leather wrapped emblem and two detachable straps. I know that it’s a super trendy purse right now but I think it also has the potential to last the test of time. I think I will have this purse for years to come. It’s that beautiful.

Hello! I was wondering how the Pillow Tabby has help up over last year. Has it been easy to keep clean/wipe clean? Love the ivory color and wondering if it will stay nice. Would love to hear your thoughts a year later!
