American Girl: A Lifelong Dream

I may possiby be the biggest dork there is. But I’m not ashamed. Growing up, I was obsessed with American Girl Dolls. I randomly received their catalogue in the mail when I was 8 and fell in love. I immediately forced my dad to put my name on the mailing list and started to receive the catalogues every season for the next 10 years. If there was one thing I wanted, it was an American Girl doll. I begged my parents every year but alas, I never got one. When we went to Seattle a couple of years later, I begged my parents to take me into the store but we never came across the store. My dream of seeing an American Girl doll in it’s flesh was dying.

But, as Megan and I were strolling down Fifth Ave in New York, there it was. The American Girl store. All of my memories came flooding back and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier.

I’m literally in shock. Everything that I imagined the store to be was correct.

How cute are the washrooms?! And the best part? Every stall has a little doll hanger to sit your doll while you pee.

Samantha and Kit were always my favorite dolls. They’re way too pretty.

Oh my, this is Marisol. She was the Doll of the Year in 2005. Each year, American Girl releases a limited edition doll. I have never ever wanted a doll more than I wanted Marisol. She was dance themed and she came with all these dance outfits and she was absolutely perfect. My 10 year old self would have been so happy. Actually, my 20 year old self is extremely happy.

Coconut is my favorite American Girl pet. He was this fluffy white dog. Fun fact: since I couldn’t have the real deal American Girl Coconut, I went to Build A Bear and got a similar looking stuffed dog and named him Coconut.

I have never been so excited to stand in line to buy something. I bought the cutest key chain ever. You will see it in my upcoming“What I Bought in New York” post.
Get excited!

But the most exciting part? When I went to buy this keychain, they were asking for my name and when I gave it to her, I was already in the system. THAT’S RIGHT. AMERICAN GIRL DIDN’T FORGET ABOUT ME AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.

So there we have it folks. I’m literally 8 years old. I don’t even care. I’m too happy to care.
