Frost(bite)

Edmonton has been BEAUTIFUL lately. If you don’t live in the land of #yeg and have missed out on how frosty all the trees have been here, then check out my Insta pic here. This is all my Instagram feed has been filled with lately. Apparently, Edmonton people don’t have much else to take pictures of (myself included). But in all seriousness (except not, when am I ever serious?), this is how I wish Winter in Edmonton always is. It’s warm, but there’s still snow and everything is white and when the sun hits the frosty trees, it’s simply breathtaking. It just melts my lil’ heart.

Now that it’s a bit warmer, I can finally start to wear my lighter jackets once again. And one of those jackets includes this aviator style coat from Zaful. Now, I got to be honest with you. When I first received this jacket, I absolutely hated it and I wasn’t going to feature it on ze blog. But, when I began to pair it with different things, I found I quite liked it. If you follow along with my Zaful posts, you’ve heard me talk about how they’re not the best quality. They’re kind of a hit or miss. And I have to admit that this jacket is unfortunately not the best quality. It’s a whole lot thinner than what it looks like online and the faux fur and stitching is definitely less than awesome. And even though the quality is cheap, the price isn’t, which is definitely it’s biggest downfall. It’s $70.30CAD ($51.99USD) which is a little bit more than I would pay for this jacket. However, with that being said, I really do like how the jacket looks on. It fits in with that whole style of jacket that I have been absolutely loving lately (like my fave Zara one) and I have a feeling I’m going to be wearing it a ton in the next couple of months!

To pair with the jacket, I’m wearing the best sweater in the world. I honestly can’t get over how much I love this one. First of all, it’s my favorite colour. That whole dusty rose shade is just me. So me. Second, the shape. It has a slightly cropped length, but is still oversized. I love it Third, the fabric. Oh my. It’s that type of chenille material and if you’re not familiar with it, think sweaters from like the late 90′s. You know that super super SUPER soft fabric that has almost a shiny metallic sheen to it? Yup, that’s chenille. It’s great. When I bought this sweater on Black Friday and I was trying it on, it literally brought tears to my eyes in the dressing room. I wish I was kidding. I’m not.

Oh man, I just realized this is going to be a long post because I have way too much to rave about. Sorry about that. But let’s just get on with it. So these pants. You may remember me talking about a pair of coated denim that I had picked up on Boxing Day and that I loved them so much, I was considering buying a second pair to keep as backup for when those ones eventually wore out. I thought I was kidding at the time, but apparently I wasn’t because I did it. I bought a backup pair. Well, not exactly. They’re similar, but not the same. They’re the same shiny, leather-effect coated denim, but they have added stitching detail on the knees and awesome silver zipper pockets. So that justifies having two pairs, right?

Okay, I’m almost done the post now. Let’s just talk about one more thing. These boots. I’ll keep it short. I picked them at Sam Edelman during my Vegas trip and they were on for quite a good sale. They’re beautiful. Black leather, pointed toe, one inch block heel. Very narrow and sleek. They fit every boot specification I have. However, if you pick up the same pair, keep in mind that these are damn slippery. They are completely smooth on the bottom so I better get some rubber grips on them before I slip and die. Because I will. Classic Taylor.
