I was recently sent a package of very exciting makeup products to try out from the the launch of the Hard Candy Spring/Summer 2017 collection! I’m a huuuuge fan of Hard Candy. They have such affordable products (all available at Walmart), but I truly believe the quality is much more comparable to high end makeup rather than mass cosmetics. Plus a bunch of the cosmetics in the Spring/Summer 2017 collection are very comparable to the trends seen in the cosmetics world this year! We’re talking all about colour correcting and highlighting, something you see absolutely everywhere!
The first product I tried out was the Hard Candy Sheer Envy Color Correct Cushion Wonder! Long name but fully worth it. This product is amazing! It’s a peachy tint that’s perfect for correcting any dark circles. Plus, the formula is super light in texture, more like a serum texture so it blends in immediately. Usually with colour correcting products, I find it super hard to cover up the colour afterwards and make it look like I don’t have orange, purple and green streaks on my face, but this concealer instantly blends into my skin while hiding my dark circles! Plus the application of this product makes it super easy to apply with a soft spongey cushion so no other brushes are required! But because it’s such a lightweight formula, a setting powder is definitely needed which brings me into the next product, the Hard Candy Sheer Envy Bake, Brighten & Set Loose Finishing Powder. Wow, another long name. But this product is absolutely amazing. For those of you who don’t know about the world of baking, you just take a sponge and pat on a thick layer of powder under your eyes. This light banana shade gives a natural radiance to the undereye area and makes sure everything stays crease-free! To finish up this section on colour correcting, I also tried out the Hard Candy Sheer Envy Color Correct Perfecting Powder made up of four pastel shades that are perfect for correcting any discolourations in your skin. The powder is super lightweight and finely milled, but provides a nice matte finish overtop your skin.
Another huge trend this year is highlighting and contour which brings us into our next products: the Wet Ever Bold Hold Lip Lacquer and theLip Artiste Lip Contouring Wand. Both of these products come in a multitude of different shades (ranging from nudes to pinks to dark shades), but I was sent them in a very deep purple! Now, these aren’t shades I would normally go for but I still really like the formula. The Wet Ever Lacquer is super glossy and looks absolutely gorgeous on the lips! The Lip Artiste is the perfect product to be paired with it. It’s a dual ended wand that comes with a lip liner that is great for defining your lips and cupid bow with the other side being a creme highlighting shade that I love to dab in the middle of the lips to make them look extra plump! These two products pair perfectly together to create beautiful “Instagram-worthy” lips! To continue on with the highlighting trend, I also got to try out the new Hard Candy Iridescent Pearl Highlighter. This prismatic highlighter is absolutely gorgeous but to be honest, I was expecting something more. It’s surprisingly subtle on the skin. However, I love that it’s light enough to still highlight my extremely pale skin and the fine specks of purple and blue glitter makes this highlighter undeniably unique!
Next we’re jumping into eye products with the Look Pro! Metal Eyes Chrome Eyeshadow Kit. This kit is such a cool idea! It comes with four highly pigmented shades that can be mixed with the Setting Liquid that is included to produce shadows that are probably the most bold, glittery shades I have ever seen! Just look at those swatches! But if those swatches are a lil’ too intense for you, you can also use these shadows dry for a more everyday look. And to compliment this eyeshadow kit, I also tried out theStroke of Gorgeous Kajal Supreme Eyeliner Duo. This is a dual-ended eyeliner with a soft
kajal eyeliner that I absolutely love to line my undereye and waterline with and an ultra-black long-wearing liquid
liner. This liquid liner has a fatter tip but it’s still able to draw a super precise line on the lid! Plus, it’s the perfect shape for making a nice, smooth wing!
I am so so so impressed with all of the new Hard Candy products for this summer! I had so much fun trying them out and I have adopted so many of them into my everyday makeup routine (that’s how you know they’re trulygood)!
