Dior Hydra Life Extra Plump Smooth Balm Mask

‘So, I’m working full time at Shoppers Drug Mart in the Beauty Boutique again this summer– actually I have a funny story to tell about that first before we get into this post. I was helping this girl the other day and she stops and looks at me and she says,“You know, you’ve worked here a loooongtime” and I’m like“yup” and she’s like“no, like you’ve been here a realllllllly long time” and I’m like“yup” and she’s like“no, it’s crazy, like I remember when I used to be in high school and you would help me with makeup” and I was like“yup”. So yes folks, I’ve been working at Shoppers for a really long time and I should probably quit, but I just can’t. Sorry for that lil’ interruption, back to the post! As I was saying, I’m working full time so that means I’m surrounded by air conditioning full time and it has not been kind to my skin. The AC just sucks all the moisture out of my skin, leaving it completely dehydrated.

But luckily, I found the saviour to my skin. This is the new Dior Hydra Life Extra Plump Smooth Balm Mask. Dior recently relaunched and redesigned their beloved Hydra Life line with new cleansers, micellar waters, exfoliants, creams and best of all, masks. They added three new masks to their line: the Extra Plump Smooth Balm Mask, the Glow Better Fresh Jelly Mask and the Pores Away Pink Clay Mask. Masking is a hugetrend in the beauty world where you put different masks on different areas of your face to address specific skin concerns. The Glow Better Fresh Jelly Mask is a three-minute radiance gel-mask for smooth and glowing skin with both a chemical (citrus extracts) and a physical (apricot kernel particles) scrub that is gentle but powerful! For the more oily areas of your face, you may prefer the Pores Away Pink Clay Mask that purifies the skin, minimizes the appearance of pores, and mattifies. The clay is air-whipped and naturally pink which transforms into a fine foam when rinsed to eliminate impurities gently!

But today, I’m going to be talking all about the Extra Plump Smooth Balm Mask because that is definitely what my skin needs right now. Like the two other masks, this mask is designed to be left on for only three minutes, which I kind of both love and hate. This is a great mask when you’re in a hurry and only have a couple of minutes to slap on a mask, however I prefer to use masks as a relaxing tool so I love to leave mine on for up to twenty minutes. But the good thing about this mask is that if you want to leave it on for a longer time, you totally can (but do notleave on the other masks for longer than three minutes). The longer you leave on this mask, the more nourished and conditioned your skin will be.

This peach-coloured mask is super lightweight and infused with white pine oil and natural plumping agents so it still feels refreshing and light on your skin. The natural white pine oil comforts and soothes, while a carefully balanced botanical blend including shea butter and jojoba nourishes the skin leaving it hydrated and moisturized. The plumping agents plump up your skin to decrease the appearance of fine lines and pores, making it look healthy and fresh! However, at $79CAD ($69USD), I can’t confidently say this mask is worth it. In my opinion. spending almost 80 bucks on a mask is absolutely ridiculous and this mask doesn’t do nearly enough to my skin to justify the price. So I would save that $80 and put it towards a nice face cream instead (I recommend the Clarins Multi-Active Cream). And for a face mask that acts just like this Dior one for a quarter of the price, try the Nip+Fab Kale Fix Mask ($16CAD, $12.95USD) or the Avene Soothing Moisture Mask ($35CAD, $26 USD)!
