Mustard. Yellow. A shade I never thought I would own a single piece of clothing in and yet, here we are, dedicating a whole blog post to this colour. I am so obsessed with mustard for Fall. So obsessed in fact that when I’m online shopping, I filter everything by shade instead of price. Take Zara, for example. When scrolling through their new arrivals, I clicked the option to only view clothing available in yellow. Who would have ever thought yellow would be making such a huge comeback? Twelve year old Taylor with her horrendous neon yellow eyeshadow and yellow boots would have never imagined such a thing.
So yes, I’ve been loving mustard yellow and hence been looking to purchase every single item available in the shade (my wallet has taken the hit this month). And as part of my back to school shopping, I found THE perfect mustard yellow sweater at H&M. Now, normally I’m not the biggest fan of H&M knitwear because I find it pills and just doesn’t hold up nicely overtime. But I couldn’t say no to a mustard yellow sweater. And it doesn’t seem to be pilling so far, so we might just have gotten lucky with this one.
Underneath the mustard yellow glory, I paired a striped dress from one of my favorite online brands, eShakti. I have worked with this company many times on ze blog (here and here) and they never fail to impress me. Part of their charm is that you can customize the piece you order, changing everything from the exact measurements to neckline style, hem length and sleeve style! That way, you know the garment is going to fit you exactly how you want, all the guesswork is taken out of online shopping! Brilliant? I think so. This striped dress is so darn cute with three quarter length sleeves and a tie that can either be tied in the front for a more casual look or tied at the back to dress it up a bit! I also love unbuttoning this dress and using it as more of a lightweight jacket over top of a t-shirt dress. Y’all know I love anything that can be worn multiple ways!
To finish off the look, I went for a preppy streetwear vibe by adding my favorite Nike Air Max Theas. The leather adds just a bit of edge to my outfit to keep it from crossing over into that nerdy schoolgirl vibe, ya feel? And finally, neutral accessories like this grey Michael Kors Selma purse and my classic Daniel Wellington watch completed the outfit! But let’s be honest, the real star is and will always be my mustard yellow sweater. Join me next week on ze blog for more mustard themed outfits (I hope, I haven’t actually found any more mustard yellow clothing pieces).
