Maison Jacynthe – New Launches

I have been a huge fan of Maison Jacynthe for the past year ever since they sent me a couple of makeup items to try out last spring (here) and so I jumped at the chance to try a couple of new items that have come out on their site recently! Maison Jacynthe is the cutest French Canadian company based out of Quebec that makes amazing cruelty-free skincare and cosmetics!

There are a couple of things about Maison Jacynthe that has captured my heart. The first is the packaging. The whole brand’s vibe is so feminine and pretty with a hint of Canadian rustic-ness (wow, Taylor, your descriptions are too good) with the pops of wood and aluminum metal. I just love some good packaging. The second is the scent of their products. When I first tried out the blush and lipstick in my last review (here), I fell in love with how everything smelled. And this time around, I was so pleased to find that the foundation and highlighter had that same scent. It’s like a sweet floral that I just want to bathe in. Okay? Okay.

But the reason that I’m talking about how good Maison Jacynthe’s makeup items smell is because they recently came out with a line of perfumes! And so I figured i I’m so obsessed with their makeup line scents, there’s a 98.67% (very accurate) chance I’m gonna love their fragrances just as much. This is the Vingt-Deux perfume and for all you non-Frenchies, that means Twenty Two. And do you know how old I am? I’m twenty-two. Is it a match made in heaven? Yes, it is. This is the perfume that I will use until the end of my twenty second year on earth. It’s such a unique scent and something I wouldn’t usually go for, but defnitely love. It’s in the oriental family with it’s top notes being bergamot, cardamom, pink berry and rum with base notes maple and vanilla. So it’s woody and spicy with a hint of sweetness and florals mixed in. It’s delightful! And it lingers on the skin so nicely without fading away throughout the day.

I also tried their new Fluide De Teint foundation and I’m gonna have to be honest with y’all that this was just not the foundation for me. I wanted to like it, but it just didn’t agree with my skin. For starters, it’s the wrong shade. Although it’s the lightest colour (Porcelaine) so it should have matched, it’s a tad dark and way too yellow-toned for me. I’m incredibly pink so it can be hard to find the right shade because of that. In addition, it’s a very liquid-y foundation that provides sheer coverage. However, it does give the most beautiful glow to the skin so if I did have better skin without so many breakouts that needed a fuller coverage, I think I would love this foundation. And it’s made with 100% natural ingredients so you can feel good about putting this on your face!

The last product I tried out is the new Lune Rose Illuminateur aka the Pink Moon Highlighter. This powder highlighter is the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever laid my eyes upon. It is so finely milled with subtle shimmer that packs quite the punch on your cheeks. But the most important thing is that this highlighter applies so beautifully and doesn’t add any extra attention to pores on the skin’s surface. Sometimes with such a shimmery powder, you run the risk of it highlighting not only your cheek bones but also your pores and it can make your skin look extremely textured. But with this powder, it’s so smooth and fine that it looks so natural on the face but still gives that intense shimmer! The shade is also beautiful. It’s a pale pink gold that is right up my alley. I just love pink-toned highlighters!
