Are Shorts Making a Comeback?

(And My Fave Non-Ugly Shorts for the Summer)

I haven’t been in a pair of shorts for what has felt like years. Like seriously, I dareyou to find a picture of me in shorts on ze blog. Ugh never mind, I’ll do it for you. The last time I wore shorts on the blog was 2016 (here is your proof). That’s a full two years ago. Now, don’t get me wrong, it has nothing to do with not liking my legs or wanting to cover them up. I still wear dresses, skirts, rompers – I like my legs! I just don’t like shorts. Shorts are just ugly not cute in my opinion and they often don’t encompass the feminine style I often crave. I told my mom that shorts were not stylish anymore and she was very offended so I will try not to say that here in fear of offending y’all as well.

But the point of that ramble is, that I have found a pair of shorts I don’t totally hate. These are Dex, from The Bay (sorry Americans, you’re welcome Canadians) and I think they’re kind of cute! They’re a crepe-y silky polyester material with cute ruffles on the waistband and pockets. They have a drawstring waist (aka you can eat as much as you want in these) and slight pleating down the leg so they look sophisticated and slightly dressy. The only thing I’m unsure about is the colour. Are they taupe? Are they beige? Are they mauve (I swear I see a slight purple undertone)?

Because of the colour confusion, I wasn’t sure what to pair with these. So I ended up sticking on the safe side with a cream lace tank top and my favorite cropped jacket from Zara in this lovely chartreuse green colour. I need more things in this colour but surprisingly not surprisingly, it’s a hard shade to find. And as a final touch, my super duper old snakeskin print sandals from Just Fab completed the look (I think).

My Favorite Shorts for Summer:

And because I spent the majority of this post dissing shorts in their entirety, I will try to make it up to them (and all you shorts lovers) by linking some of my favorite short styles down below so I can prove once and for all, cute shorts do exist. You’re welcome.
