A Mustard Yellow Mural

Bless Edmonton and it’s abundance of colourful murals that help me think maybe, just maybe, this city ain’t so bad. But you know what’s especially great about this mural (located on10706 124 Street by Duchess in case you want the next great IG pic)? The pops of mustard yellow. And as you may remember from last week’s OOTD post, mustard yellow is making a biiiig comeback in my wardrobe.

While the mural was a big inspiration behind this neutral look, y’all know I needed to find a way to bring some mustard yellow into my‘fit. And today, that mustard yellow was incorporated by these shoes. I totally realize that the majority of you are going to be thinking these shoes are the ugliest things you’ve ever laid your eyes on. But I have never loved a pair of shoes more. I have never experienced a greater joy than wearing these shoes for the first time. Dramatic? Naaah. I first saw these at Little Burgundy but they were $160 and that’s just a tad much to pay for the world’s ugliest shoes (side note: my dad calls them my ugly elf mules so that’s that). But as soon as they went on sale for $44.99 (A STEAL), I knew they were going to be mine. Another side note: make sure you size down in these. I am almost always a 7 or a 7.5 in shoes but I had to get a 6.5 in these! Crazy!

These mules feature a pointed toe and slingback strap intertwined with a white fabric and mustard yellow silk fabric. I honestly think if I died and had to be resurrected as a shoe, these would be it. But if you’re not the biggest fan of mustard yellow (GASP, you should be ashamed), these shoes also come in a simple black and a cute linen striped version (which I’m picking up ASAP).

The rest of my outfit is as simple as it can be. I’m wearing my favorite denim tank top that is so boxy and shapeless and hid my food baby from all the cakes I consumed at Duchess that day. For pants, I’m wearing my Aritzia Cohens that I honestly forgot about. This is probably the first time I’ve worn them all summer and I’m ashamed. They are way too expensive (and cute) to be forgotten about. From now until the end of September, my goal is to wear these at least five more times. Can I do it?
