I’m trying to write this post in between building a gingerbread house and lemme tell you, it’s not going well. I honestly wouldn’t go through the trouble of trying to build a gingerbread house every year if it wasn’t for the fact that decorating it with candy (and eating all the candy) is just so darn fun. I should honestly become a professional gingerbread house builder because that’s where all of my talents lie.
So I’m not sure if y’all remember (you definitely should, shame on you if you don’t), but I recently wrote a post all about how my old parka died a sad, painful death a little under a month ago. It was such a devastating day in my life and I never thought I would move past it. But I did. I moved onto bigger and better things. I found a replacement.
I honestly never thought I would find a parka I loved as much as the last one. But Aritzia came through for me once again. This is the Babaton Julian parka and lemme tell you a little bit about it. It’s filled with 100% responsibly sourced goose down so it’s super duper warm. Warm enough for -30°C (or -22°F for you Americans). Finally! A parka warm enough for these horrible Edmonton winters. But there’s more to this coat than just the goose down lining. It has a faux fur lining that is so soft and cozy as well as merino wool-blend cuffs that keep my wrists warm and prevent any cold air flying up the sleeves. In addition, fleece-lined pockets provide a safe haven for my hands. But my favorite part of the jacket is by far the removable front bib that zips up all the way to the neck so I don’t have to worry about wearing a scarf. No sore throats for this girl.
Oh and besides al the technical stuff about this parka, it’s also just really freakin’ cute. I absolutely love the fur trim down the front. And it’s definitely a dupe for the much more expensive Mackage parka. So that’s a bonus. But you know what is not a bonus? When I first brought this coat home, Oakley absolutely hated it. Maybe it’s because I told him that the fur was made of kitties (he HATES kitties) but he tried to kill my coat for a solid hour. Luckily he has since realized how cute it is so now he just admires from afar how good I look in it.
