  • Reinventing Old Pieces – The Blazer Cape

One thing that makes me sad about clothes is how quickly trends die. You can buy this one piece (for probably way too much money) and it’s absolutely perfect and you wear it everyday for one season. But then, when that season is done, you sadly put it away for next year and when that year finally comes around, that piece isn’t in style anymore and it goes forgotten until you finally donate it to Goodwill (no offence to Goodwill- donating is a good thing!!).

I have an especially hard time letting go of clothes, even when they’re not in style anymore. And this blazer cape from Boohoo is a prime example of that. That last time I wore this was all the way back in 2016 (see here) and I have not touched it since. That’s pretty bad- why have I held on to something I haven’t worn for two years?! But there is a silver lining. Because on this particular day as I was struggling to find a cute outfit to wear, I found this cape blazer at the back of my closet. And why not reinvent it by pairing it with relaxed straight-leg jeans? Total cool-girl look. (Not saying I’m a cool girl, just the look is).

I bought these jeans off my friend because I obviously needed another pair of Citizens (pretty sure this is my tenth pair, oops). But holy, these are one of the best pair of jeans I own. Vanessa really broke these in because they are so soft. So comfy. So worn in. To put it simply, I love them.

But you know what I might love even more? All the new jewelry I’m wearing today. Let’s start with my watch. It’s a Timex watch called the Crystal Bloom and if I was ever reborn as a watch (??) in my next life, this would be me. That’s a weird statement, Taylor. But seriously, this watch couldn’t be more perfect for me. It has a polished rose-gold case with a pink leather strap but the real magic comes from theSwarovski® crystals adorning the dial in a floral pattern. It’s stunning, to put it simply. My eyes tear up a bit when I look at it. And nothing could have complimented the watch better than my new jewelry from Eliasz and Ella. Eliasz and Ella is a local jewelry company right here in Edmonton, so naturally, I love the already. But their jewelry is absolutely stunning as well. I picked out the Rose Gold “Tiny” Bead Bangin’ Bracelet which is the cutest, daintiest bracelet ever. It pairs so well with any of my watches as well as any other bracelet! Plus it’s adjustable so it even fits my tiny wrist! I also got theSilver Opal Hustle City Studs. The feature gorgeous opal druzy stones in a silver setting. I wish I could have captured just how sparkly these babies are because my oh my do they shine in the sunlight!
