So my dream for YEARS was to be Oakley the Goldendoodle for Halloween. I love my dog more than anything in the world so it seemed only fitting that I would dress up as my favorite thing this year: him. But the thing is, finding a goldendoodle Halloween costume is no easy task. I have been searching for as long as I can remember. They just don’t seem to exist. But, I stumbled into Dollarama of all places one day looking for deer antlers (I decided I wanted to be a deer this year) and instead of finding antlers, I found the most perfect dog ears, nose and tail for only $4. I think this is the cheapest Halloween costume I’ve ever worn. And the cutest. By far (cuter than my bunny costume from a few years ago, that’s for sure).

Now, I could go on to talk about the rest of my outfit as I usually do in any of my outfit of the day posts but this is no ordinary OOTD. No, no. This post is all about Oakley today because he is truly the best thing that has ever happened to me. Let me start this off by saying Oakley is no average dog. I know that everyone probably says that about their dog but Oakley is really one of a kind. Ever since I got him when he was 10 weeks old, I have never doubted that he is truly the love of my life. For the past seven years, he has been with me throughout every milestone. Graduating high school, graduating university, getting my first job, meeting my first boyfriend, having my first kiss. He’s been there through it all. I’ve also been lucky enough to have had him from almost the very start of my blog. So, not only have all of you gotten to see me grow up, but you’ve also gotten to see Oakley grow up. You’ve seen him quadruple in size and go from this tiny puppy to this humongous little man with a biiiiig personality to match.

But as much as me and Oaks have celebrated the good times together, he has also been with me through all the bad times. And he has never failed to comfort me throughout all of them. I always jokingly call him my therapy puppy because if I’m crying or I’m stressed or I’m just having a bad day, he can always sense it. He always knows the perfect time to come into my room and crawl into my lap (even though that’s almost physically impossible). He just gently licks away my tears and lets me hug him for as long as I want (and squeeze him a lil’ too tightly). He never gets tired of me. That really is unconditional love. Love you, little man.
